@Mj12

it tastes good to me but I also buy jar sauce and I know some are horrified by the notion - that's like me saying - you don't bake your own biscotti? lol

what do I know? but since they are vine ripened tomatoes and there were a few pounds - decided to give it a try

oven was on for hours today

coat 3lbs tomatoes w/olive oil and roast for 30 minutes at 400 degress

saute 1 large diced onion in 1/4 cup oilive oil - low and slow

I basically was sautéing the onions as the tomatoes was roasting -

added a healthy TBS of minced garlic to pot for 2 minutes right before I

add tomatoes to pot - thyme, bit of sugar, salt and black pepper

simmer for 1 hr

cool off a bit and puree in Vitamix

anyone that has an easy recipe - I would love to try

this is the 2nd time the friend gave us tomatoes and the season is NOT over

me know nuthin about what kind of can tomatoes to buy (maybe someday)

peeled - crushed - puree in tomato juice - Idk

Ragu? you are confusing my pea brain - sunday gravy- sauce

but it tastes good to me

what did you do with our tators?

@Yahooey  I'm not a sauce snob. My Mon's sauce takes hours and hours. Most of the time we do a jar of sauce and zhuzh it up a bit.

2 potato plants were rotten. Smiley Surprised I think we had too much rain. I have 3 remaining healthy plants. 🤞🏻

For some weird reason, all the heart's I've given since Day 1 of this thread are no more.  It no longer takes me to the last post read.

I might have to go back and re-heart everyone.

@Mj12  We lost some potatoes?  Oh, no.  You didn't sit out there with an umbrella during the storm?

oh no @Mj12 you would think the skins would get used to it getting wet

I never grew taters before - I currently have some string beans, 2 cherry tomato plants and basil (I make pesto in packets and freeze them)

I could never make sauce with my tomatoes - not enough harvest at 1 time

they are all still green - maybe that other guy started really early

@Yahooey  Jarred sauce is fine.  Roasting the tomatoes - yum.  Never thought about doing that before.

If I do make homemade, I like Cento brand tomatoes.  They have a jarred vodka sauce that tastes as good as homemade.
