Well, per @Yahooey (who Googled because I
wasam too lazy) you know it's time to harvest the potatoes when the foliage/leaves all die off. Isn't that amazing? Such an easy way to tell.@Mj12 and @Yahooey How will you know when they turn into fries and tots or hash brown? What's the sign?
I think fries are ready on Fryday but the others I am not sure.Pam?Yahooey?

@Yahooey ...Here you go...Your very own pet woodchucks! ![]()
In our first house, there was a shed farther out in our large backyard area...It wasn't used for much and a family of woodchucks took over....about three of them...At the time, we had three cats...two were outdoor/indoor....We never had a problem with them...We all lived together peacefully!

@Yahooey can you weigh in on this? Need more Googling.
silly you - by your nose
a perfect ready to harvest tots or fries aroma will waft through the yard
and sorry @Bri369
you can't plant hash browns, it isn't self contained bc you can't scoop it up without getting a lot of dirt
which is why you can't plant mashed potatoes either

You would some sort of underground vessel for mashed potatoes.
Hash browns are a little trickier.

I'm going to design an underground vessel! Where is my sketching paper and ruler?

@Bri369 ...Excellent suggestion and you would need to wait much longer before digging them up...They would definitely need that really hot Summer sun and lots of water or maybe "milking" them instead...lol... to turn them into "mash" and then you just dig the vessels up and the mashed potatoes are all ready to enjoy!...We all are just so brilliant and witty this morning! ![]()
