Yes, pretty disgusting, isn't it?

If you lose certain teeth, however, you tend to chew on the other side, overloading those teeth and affecting your bite possibly.

We have the best dental insurance we can get as retired people,  but the cost is yikes for implants. Speaking for myself, our teeth that replaced our baby teeth - back in the ice age - are only going to be in good shape for so long.

Fortunately we got pet insurance for Winston, after talking about it for so long.  Well, the little fella (age 6 or so), got very sick after catching a mouse (we live in a country area).  The vet ran all kinds of tests, and kept him overnight.

We followed instructions, paid the vet, submitted the vet bill, and were completely reimbursed.  The company is WAGMO, and we were so happy!

And we had been customers for only a few months.

@geezerette

Yes, you are right.  Taking care of a pet is expensive, and the bills add up fast.  We have always had pets.  Married almost 58 years, have had pets for 56.  We are in pretty good shape considering our ages.  I am getting PT for my back now, twice a week, and my co-pay is only $40 a session.   Notice I said "only," as insurance companies it's are bandits.

Please see my post to Yahooey for pet insurance issue. As I remember, it seems to go according to the age of pet.  It has so far saved us much $.  We have spent so much on our pets over the years, but we just have loved them so much. We adopted Wi stone a few years back because our children - who love animals - promised to take him if we could not.

He is a spoiled little rascal, who really rules the house and brings us joy.

@PamfromCT : Totally agree about the teeth. Starting in January will see a new dentist and get back on regular schedule. Never really liked the dentist that DH preferred.

Yea: Good insurance for precious Winston.Relieved that Winston is doing good.Enjoy your weekend.❤🙏🤗

@Yahooey @cowboy sam @geezerette @PamfromCT . I have been busy paying bills, doing research and Christmas shopping. This morning ordered our side dishes for Thanksgiving and Christmas and DH will pick them up on Monday afternoon : they will be packaged and ready for the freezer.

I have finished Christmas shopping for my SIL and used gift cards. I still have 3 gift cards for me.

DH requested some special shoes from Orthofeet and I signed up for emails and received email of $25 off for new customers. I ordered his shoes and already marked down 35%  and had free shipping. I ordered 3 gift cards to one of his favorite resturants. I have a few small items like socks and miscellaneous items for DH and I will be finished.

Gift cards for Alabama family are already in gift boxes and in Christmas gift bags with Christmas tissue and gift tags, placed in one of my milk crates in a safe place. I will see them when ever I open the closet in my middle room. So the holidays should be less stressful financially and physically.

Now need to decide what to cook this weekend and place my grocery order. Relieved that all this is finished but need  to work on the pantry but not tonight.❤

@cowboy sam : Totally agree: no more math problems.

I have $75 in Cracker Barrel gift cards and my last order with them was horrible. Looked on line to order something from the store and couldn't find anything.

Taco salad sounds delicious.

@SouthernBee@cowboy sam, @Yahooey, @geezerette, and all Preds people,

Well, a good week e ding here.  We finally had the extra insulation put in the attic.  The attic is close to empty, as DH made cleaning it out his life's work for a very long time.  glad it is over.  I reorganized my coat closet, and more stuff to donate.  Cleaned up the top of one-half bath vanity.  It looks nice now, not a hot mess.  Baby steps.

I will not tell DH this, but next project after the new year will be cleaning out garage areas.  Another hot mess.  And his shop area in the basement...oh my.  I know it is hard to get rid of things you once enjoyed working with and doing.  But I have, hard as it is.  I gave my beautiful bike away, as I cannot risk a fall.  And I used to love to do my Early American arts and crafts.  Gave my sewing machine to DD, and all my paints and brushes to GD. Time to move onto new things.  My house looks like a gift shop, and gave away so much of what I made.

DH made a scrapbook of my paintings.

Unlike you all, I was never much of a cook.  Got so tired of it all.  We eat very simply, and the family is going out for Thanksgiving dinner. I used to host all of the holidays for the entire family for many years.  No one else did.  So I retired.

My DD did for all the while her FIL was so sick following COVID.  He did not want to risk going out much, dragging his oxygen tank with him.  He died a year ago this last summer, and we all miss him so much.  A so nice man, he treated my DD like the daughter he never had.

Take care, all of you.  You are the BEST!!!

My PT tells me he is optimistic about my back.  I am so grateful to have such good care.  DH has been great, as well.

Hard to take it very easy, frustrating, as I always was so active.  Heck, I am only 80!

Lubs you all!!

@PamfromCT @SouthernBee @cowboy sam @geezerette

good morning everyone -

today i'm going to bless my home

invited very very very few people as i'm still under construction

my brother - his daughter and her BF -my friend from high school and her DD

I used to only see her every year or every 2 yrs - she lives in jersey

about 1.5 hr drive w/o traffic but usually ends up like 2 hrs

anyway.... her DD is a PT graduated about 2 yrs ago and working in manhattan

renting an apt in bklyn

the mom goes and stays with her while she visits her PT (not her DD) in the city

so we met up again - me taking the subway and we gab and gab

we always have a good time - no walking on eggshells and we pick up where we left off like no time has passed at all

so the first time we met in mid sept - she asked about the renovations for stage 2

she never saw any of the progress - just the final video of the front area

i showed her where i was at and she said wants to see more as i do the work

i dont share photos or videos as the work progresses -

maybe once in a while with my nieces

kinda - see my pics of my child playing at his game etc

i share with you peeps -  and hoping i wasnt boring you all as i went through my searching - anxiety and trimuph

so... since then i showed her my weekly videos - and she was so supportive

telling me - she knew how much thought i put in

people see the end result - oh it looks nice or this tastes good

you dont see the prep - the chopping - the cooking - the cleaning up

yes - it tastes good - swallowed in seconds - but the prep was a lot

anyway - i told her i was having my niece and brother come bless my place

and told my brother - if nephew and GF comes - they have to join in the conversation - engage in the goings on -

at his home - they would come down from their dungion (playing hrs of video game)

eat dinner - say 1 word answers - then goes back to video games

i told him - i am NOT a cafeteria- they cant eat and run

then i met up with her again a few weeks later

since she knew about the blessing

i asked if she wanted to come - there is construction - there are messes

it is not a grand party - just a blessing and toast to good stuff to come

she and her DD would love to come

my niece heard many stories about them and it will be great for them to meet

her DD and my niece are close in age

so... been prepping up a storm and also buying take out orders

will show pics when i put all the spread

notice pancake was not invited even though she lives a few blocks away

hoping for good fudz and good yapping....

and of course belly laughs
