I agree about over the counter products..

was told   by my NPto take tylenol   8hour arthritis pain relief tablets 650 mg 1= 2x a day....by my np....even i tablet bothers me

it causes me problems  to have urinating prolems...unable to go!

My bladder swelled up on me   and hurts!

She doesn't know why that happens?

I think i am allergic to some ingredient in them!

I could take the reg. tylenol without any problems...!

But since i was perscribed  the generic  for Zanax" 0.05MG for  anxierty  causing me not to sleep  and stomach problems, etc

Perscription says say to take

twice  a day as needed  to help me sleep,etc...

"But"
she also told me i could only take  only   1  as needed!

If i feel its not needed   i don't  have to take it...!

We are being very cautious   about my taking this  med and dose for my ageof 84  and not for  me be to become addicted to it!

Out of 60 pills in bottle i have only taken maybe 6 pills since05/13/24.  and today is 08/05'24...

but when i need help from them..i take only 1 pink pill...i "don't" think my body could handle 2 a day  !

It helps me when i do need one!

I take a medication that is similar to your Xanax.  I only take it at night when I need help sleeping since it relaxes me.  I take half of .5 mg.  I have another med I take regularly for anxiety.

My doctor says he's encouraged not to prescribe these types of medications to seniors because of the potential for falls, etc.  And, of course, now they're worried about every little medication becoming addictive.  But he knows that I monitor my body and I don't overuse them.  However, he still only gives me a small number of pills for the year.

I was also advised to take at bedtime...i tried a couple of times taking 1/2 of same pill  it is bitter but works!I have decided to take the half at bedtime like you for sleeping!

But yesterday i took whole one around 8am....uh...won't do it again!

She also knows i have no desire to overuse any  meds...i dislike taking meds  unless i have to..lol,,,my script was for 60 pills and no refill...and of course to be filled at a local pharmcy  and not by mail!

Thanks for your input.Smiley Happy.it helped me.. like 1/2 tablet at bed time  now.🤗

Hi Y'all. Busy reading and doing a lot of research. I was concerned about the cost of the pre made meals and certain spices. Moms Meals $7.99  plus shipping  etc.Made a list of the Moms Meals and each nutritional information . Then looked at the nutritional information for Healthy Choice , Atkins= less calories, sodium etc and average cost $3. Found two articles by nutritionalist on The Healthy Choice Meals: select ones with more protein and vegetables then add for the meal a small side salad , extra protein, more vegetables.

maybe the cost is due to fresher food? and less preservatives?

or portion of protein is larger?

talking about the cost of fudz @PamfromCT @geezerette @cowboy sam

zoe needs special scrpt food and there are no meds but specially made to help with renal care - the cans are itty bitty - i have it on auto delivery and sometimes she wont eat it and i have to toss what is left in the bowl

her fudz bill is higher than mine - i bought fudz like chicken thighs 99/lb or ground beef 2.99/lb - ribs 1.99/lb - i have 3 racks in freezer right now - i like to buy stuff on sale

her cost is 24 cans at 3 oz each for $65.00 (per case)

dat is close to a dollar an ounce - and i'm getting a lb of chicks for mine

now your fudz bill doesnt seem so high 😂

No, I take clonazepan, which is a generic of something.  It's actually prescribed for seizures from what I can read.  I first got it right after my husband passed and I was a mess and couldn't sleep.  My doctor feels it has a bit fewer potential problems than the other tranquilizer type drugs.  I've always been a worrier so I'm glad he has let me continue with it.  My mother had something prescribed for her after my father died and she gave me a few of her pills when I needed them which is how I discovered how much they helped.  And I only use them at night occasionally instead of sleeping pills.

I find that if I only take half a tablet I am relaxed enough to get a few hours of sleep but I don't feel groggy in the morning, nor do I feel so "off" that if I have to get up in the middle of the night I don't worry about falling--which is the last thing I need at this point!

But if I take it every night for a few nights it doesn't work as well and it's tempting to take more, which is how you end up getting too much and getting into trouble, I suppose.  Some nights I'm just too wound up for it to do much good, so I just toss and turn.🤷‍♀️

I really hate to take anything, but at this point in my life I figure I need some help.  And my doctor did tell me that many seniors get anxious as they age, so as long as he feels confident I can handle the medication he doesn't have a problem with me having it on a limited basis.

Another thing you might consider if you're really upset during the day is to cut the tablet down even further than just half.  Sometimes (at night) I will take 1/4 of a pill.  I use a pill splitter or sharp knife to cut the tablet.  That might give you enough medication for during the day if you're having a bad day.  My main complaint is no sleep, which is why I confine mine to nighttime.  Plus, I also now take another daily low dose anti-anxiety med during the day which helps a little.  But even with that if I take a higher dose my mind gets foggy and I can't have that.

Lubs ya! 💕

I'm wondering...if your DH can go pick up fast food, can he go to a grocery store and pick up your food?  You could order what you want online, have the store shoppers pick it out, and DH could just drive to the store and have them load your groceries in his car.  Basically the same as getting fast food.  That way you could order more nutritious food and it would be cheaper.  (I admit I've never used store pickup, so I'm assuming it's cheaper than the delivery services.)

There are so many grocery choices (usually frozen) that way other than even the Healthy Choice type meals.  For instance, I buy a bag of frozen plain grilled chicken breasts that are already cooked.  I can take out one and either microwave it or eat it cold.  It has nothing on it and is fast and easy.

There are also frozen veggie and carb options that can be microwaved easily.  Get a big bag of salad (which would probably last a couple of days in the fridge) and use your own dressing.  You could put together your own meals, use your own condiments, and it would be better for you.  Even with the items that may have sauce or dressing, often they have it in a separate bag and you can use as much or little as you want.  Much more control for you that way.  And you can gradually cut down on those if you need to.

Another thing about that is that I'm sure the ingredients are listed on the store website.  That way you know what you're eating, unlike someone else preparing your meals.  Even if you still had fast food a few times a week, it would still be better for you to pick your own food as often as possible.

Just a suggestion, of course.  You have to do what you can considering you have to rely on others.  It's challenging for you, I know.❤️

Yikes!  😳

I know that prescription cat (and dog) food is expensive but that's incredible!

It's a good thing your food is a lot cheaper!
