Getting a plant from a friend is very sweet.

You've probably already looked up more information by now. Just in case you haven't, the dumb cane is a dieffenbachia, needing to be what is called "evenly moist" and in bright, yet filtered light.

Be sure to not let any pets or people nibble the leaves. They cause swelling and inability to speak, which is where the "dumb" part of the name came from.

Somehow it's not as common anymore, but dumb never meant stupid, but simply the inability to speak.

@GingerPeach : Thank you for taking the time to research and post this information. I took my oil rubbed trash can and turned it upside down hoping to use it for a plant stand but sits to low. Researching narrow plant stand.❤️🤗

Never will take my washing machine for granted again. I just went around all my major appliances and touching them and saying a special pray. My friend in Alabama said her refrigerator died and it took six weeks to get a replacement and it cost $2500. I am sorry about your washing machine troubles.

Ours died in August. We were able to get one That COSTCO

had in their warehouse, IDK what town it was. It took about 2 weeks to transport it and install. SO grateful.

During the down time we were able to use my Dad’s - thank goodness. I wonder, is there anyone in your ‘bubble’ who you could share with till help arrives? Maybe the person who helps in your home, or your SIL (GULP)? We brought our own supplies and I did his laundry, folded it, put it away, and made his bed.

He said he got the best of the deal!

I know the shipping has changed significantly since we purchased ours .

@cowboy sam : 😃🤗❤️. Snooping around the house for something to set plant on. The only other item that I found is an empty 2 1/2 gallon popcorn can and it is the same height of the trash can.Plus soaking clothes for hand washing later.🤗❤️🥤🥤🥤

@Drythe : Thank you. I thought about all your wonderful suggestions but some laundry items you prefer other people not to see. Being senior adults we have accidents which I try to hand wash immediately but some days difficult. Even though we would help others and especially SIL to pay her water bill but she is very bad to gossip and welll.....you know.
