@Yahooey I had one of the very first Echos that Amazon offered and I loved it (not that I didn't swear at it more than a few times and they have improved it immensely since it's original launch). The sound quality is 10x better than the Dot so if you enjoy listening to music, the Echo is worth the extra money.
And good news my friend, you can activate that Dot whenever you decide to Amazon will stand behind it so when it's ready to peek out of it's currently enclosure, AZ stands ready to help you set it up or if need be would probably upgrade it for free! . . .
ps, please know I only use my Echo/Dot to listen to either radio stations or music so I unplug my devices when I am done listening to whatever (no one is going to convince me that those things don't listen in on a much longer basis than AZ lets on but that's my problem). They reconnect quickly and easily so a 30 second delay is worth my smug satisfaction . . .

me thinks all devices can listen to you - (jk but probably but idk)
but I'm so boring that they'll lose interest
residual battery life - think about that
unplug - HA!
I didn't set it up - I don't have Amazon Prime
I did have a free 1 year subscription to Prime as a bonus also
along with a $100 gift card to AZ-
that was a good promotion which I switch over
I'm just too lazy - I already have an extetnin cord with
laptop charger - phone charger - another device charger
my landline charger -
I need to unplug something if I'm going to plug in the echo echo echo
everyone has their quirks - I pay a lot for DVR in 2 rooms and my friend has to watch live TV - WHAT??? I can't do that
if she misses a show - she misses it - she sits through commercials
I put on live TV when I'm doing something else - reruns where Idk if I'm away cooking and come back to it but nothing that I really really want to watch
I even upgraded bc DVR only records 2 shows and I need it to be able to record more at 1 time - so it went from 2 to 6 - whew I can relax now
she thinks that is coo coo crazy
🤣

Oh @Yahooey I do think these smart devices listen in far more than manufacturers are willing to admit . . . that's why I don't have a microwave . . .
ps, just sent you a message offline . . .

I hope you're okay!
Hee @Bri369 no kidding! Did that get a little sporty or what? Wowsers, that was quite a storm yesterday but all is well here God bless and I am glad everybody here came through ok too. I was watching the local news coverage of all of the furniture flying off the balconies of the high rises in downtown Chicago, yikes!
I am on the top floor of this three story building so after going through a few wardrobe changes (based on how frightened I was by the incoming warnings/sirens) I ended up in my outside outfit with my purse stuffed with "important stuff" plus every electronic gadget and their charging cords . . . I look like I looted at Best Buy . . .
Again, glad everybody is safe and happy Tuesday Preds and friends . . .
@momtochloe I'm glad you're okay. It was a little intense for a while.
The visual of your outfit is hilarious. LOL

@dex Thank you!
It didn't last more than an hour. We have good storm tracking here. We can get it all - tornados, severe thunderstorms, hail, snow, ice - ugh.

specking of echo echo echo
🤣
I got me one of dem echo things for free when I signed up with FIOS
cable/phone/internet - that was about 1 1/2 years ago
my friend got an echo thingy from her son for a xmas present
felt - what would I do with it - young ones and their technology
well, she fell in love with it and told and showed me all she does with it
ai said nah, I don't need it to turn on lights etc
so a while later - she upgraded this echo thingy and was super excited bc of
better sound - or maybe it does the dishes for you idk
I told her I got a free echo thingy -
what is it - tower - dot - or some other names
idk - it is in the box -
when I was texting with her - she asked again what is it?
I said it is in the box - she says. - it should say on the side of the box and what does it look like - and proceeds to tell me what they look like
I said it is in the brown box it came in lol
months go by - she asks did you set it up
I say - it is in the brown box
so during quarantine - she says did you set it up
I say - it is keeping safe in the brown box
so NO - I don't know what it is
I'm sure when I got the bonus gits - it said so
by now it is probably obsolete and it can no longer connect
it is still in the brown box
@Yahooey you're hilarious.
I wanna know what it is. LOL
