Found out last night two young cashiers tested positive at my niece's place of work (car dealership/repair). Fortunately she works in another building and the owner is having everyone tested, but what about customers?
Think I'll stay put a little longer.
@denisemb Hopefully both parties were wearing masks.....may not be an issue

@Sea Maiden. I'm not upset in the least and nothing in my post indicated I am.
I just wonder about someone who seems to enjoy posting such a steady stream of bad news. The pandemic is certainly bad but not nearly as bad as originally predicted thankfully.
May you have a happy and cheerful day, if you can. 🌞
@Pearlee Thankyou

So many seeming not to take this pandemic seriously....so sad. An ugly reality predicted
Drastic action needs to be taken...sadly nothing is being done.
First Memorial Day crowds.... then protesters not wearing masks or distancing....then going out into the public infecting others. Two weeks from now it will be TERRIBLE.... and all the stores opening up.... and those important casinos.....
stay home as much as possible to stay well.... ...wear a mask when out (SO IMPORTANT)...practice social distancing... Do not become a victim
NO vaccine until possibly NEXT SPRING .... now predicted.
Source, please.

@Anonymous032819 wrote:Yeah, and didn't they also "predict" that 300,000 would be dead by now?
It's hard to put much stock in their "predictions" when they have been wrong so many times before.
Wasn't it just a few days ago that the WHO said that asymptomatic people can't infect and make healthy people sick?
Now it's "predicted" that " hundreds of thousands " of people will die by the end of summer?
If it wasn't so sad, I would laugh at the constant flip-flopping.
Just more of them trying to control people with fear, and to incite more panic and hysteria.
Feh!
@Anonymous032819 Thankyou for your input

@PamfromCT wrote:@Pearlee, As much as I am very fond of you, I hope you will rethink/reframe your response.
The “gloom and doom” is not information about this virus.
Rather, is is the virus itself.
The death toll is now 113,000 souls.
The rate of those afflicted and those hospitalized is up in some states. I do invite you to watch multiple news outlets to verify this information. Both Dr. Birx and Dr. Fauci are expressing great concern.
Even if you think you are safe, your loved ones will be safe, I would trust you seek the safety of all people in America. I sure do.
Check out Connecticut, my tiny state. Over 4,000 souls have already died here. My DD contracted it, and she fortunately recovered at home. My DH knows a man who was hospitalized for 4 weeks, went to a nursing home for weeks, and is finally recovering at home. The obituaries in our state’s largest paper covered an entire thicker inner section of the paper. Beyond belief.
I get you are sick of this. I am sick of this, too. But wishing will not make this go away.
Please, I ask those who don’t believe this is a threat to Start Your Own Thread. Please respect this request.
"Watch multiple news outlets"? Yes, we know all this as we've been bombarded with this info for weeks and weeks.

@SeaMaiden Nobody is saying that this is fake news (another vague political reference does not go unnoticed btw).
A "prediction" is just that-a prediction.
Since this is not a scenario etched in stone, the door is open to discuss the pros and cons, if you you will, of this "prediction".
Telling posters to start a different thread is insulting to those who have valid points to make-whether pro or con.
It seems you are determined to post the worst about this pandemic instead of initiating a discussion about hope.
Nobody wants the death rates to rise; but speaking for me- we and mine do what we can; masks, sanitizing, distancing, etc.
So I will take this "prediction" with a grain of salt just as other predictions have fallen by the wayside.
A mature discussion includes "predictions" and "counter-predictions".

At least one of the reasons the dire predictions didn't come true is because Americans were so compliant with the lockdown. The CDC director has said that they expected 50% compliance and got more like 90%. So we are the reason it hasn't been as bad as expected.
Things are changing now as we open, and people may become overconfident because the numbers are not as bad as predicted. I think our state will do fairly well because we are required to wear masks in public and are opening gradually. At least in my area, people are complying.

I agree that misinformation, changing information, plain lack of basic information is annoying, confusing, and maddening.
I ask you to consider that this virus is something very new, and completely unknown to the scientific community. As annoying as all this is, information is always evolving. Our cases in CT are way down, finally. People wear masks and practice social distancing for the most part. We are reopening slowly, but no one knows what the future will bring.

As far as a vaccine, I'm not holding my breath due to all the dissension about this virus and how it spreads in the first place.
But to hear Johnson & Johnson is planning human trials for its vaccine in July? Made me hope they're not using talcum powder in the "recipe"...
