Pre Paid Visa Cards Off Topic

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Prepaid Visa cards?

(sorry if i put this in the wrong spot, i wasnt sure where to put it)

Are these easy to use? I did purchase one (at walmart for $20.00) but now that i got it at home, there is lots of instructions to it (very tiny) and it sounds like i have to give them my social security number?? thought that was odd.

I wanted to use this for online games for one of my kids, cause i do not have a credit card and do not like to use my debit card for online games. So i thought this would be the way to go, but i dont like this idea of using my social security number? Does any one know anything about these cards? Are they safe? I did try to look it up online, but im just getting more confused.
