Thursday: I know I ask so much for your prayers for our boy that I sound like a broken record, but I'm not too humble to ask again and I'm not ashamed to say I could use strength from any and all kind hearts right now.

The last day or so he has been peeing more and drinking A LOT more, and a kind of malaise has been over him -- not all of the time, but a good bit of it. Also, when he would eat, he'd only eat for @ 30 seconds or so and quit. He wanted to eat and came to me in order to eat his soft food, but that was the result.

His kidneys were marginal all along so I stopped at the vet's today to consult with the techs, because I know taking him in there is a risk because his heart will get wound up but NOT taking them there could be catastrophic. His regular vet is out on vacation until Tuesday but the one assigned to Schmoo in his absence is available, and the techs believed it was better to be safe to get a bead specifically on how the kidneys are beginning to go, because treating kidney failure in a cat with congestive heart failure is a very delicate balance and you need to precise about it.

So the Schmoo Bear is going in at 2:20 with me and DH, who is home -- sick again!! -- but wants to come with us. Let's hope there is something his doctor can do for Schmoo.

On the plus side, he is not isolating himself/hiding, etc., and still is among the family. He even chased Sophie out of one of his cardboard box forts early this morning.
