Over 2 million people are at risk in these fires. The Santa Anna winds are deadly. Thank you brave firefighters!

@chessylady, in the rural area we live in (homes with acreage), we go though this every year (especially between Oct. through Dec.) and it is very scary.  One year our area was taken by surprise when the fire jumped the freeways. The fireballs were sent hurdling, from miles away, at the homes & properties, because of the high winds and our home was one of the ones destroyed, but my family and furbabies escaped.

~

Our area is now under a Purple Flag Warning. This evening our winds have died down to about 30+ mph but come morning they will pick back up to 50+ or more. This morning a number of big rigs were blown off the freeway. Thankfully, the drivers were not seriously injured.

The power companies have turned off the power to some of our neighboring areas. I'm surprised that we are not among them, but thankful we're not. However, we do have a generator for these types of emergencies.

~

Some of my family members are among these responders and I have a deep appreciation for their hard work and sacrifices.

So yes, I am saying my prayers for all of these brave men and women helping to fight these fires and those assisting others.

Praying for everyone who has lost their home that God will comfort them and strengthen them in this tragedy. Praying that those who are at risk of losing their home will be spared. Praying for protection for the firefighters. Praying for rain. Praying for peace on California at Christmas.

May God walk through the flames with all of these people to keep them safe from harm.

I am adding my prayers. And I hope everyone, two-legged and four-legged, who has to evacuate gets out safely.

Re: Pray for California

[ Edited ]

Some of you who are familiar with Southern California may recognize the names of some of these areas that are also dealing with fires:

Bonsall in northern San Diego County

Ojai

Carpenteria, on the coast

Murietta in Riverside County

La Conchita (which has a long history of land slides)

plus the others which are still burning that have been on the news for several days.
