The street in front of my house was completely resurfaced this fall for the first time in at least 20 years, and is in pretty good shape. The snow and ice have beaten up most of the main roads around here, which get the heavy traffic.

The biggest deal is a sinkhole in town that opened up late in 2011 and still hasn't been repaired. It literally swallowed an entire street, which remains closed. Every time they announce the water main leak underlying the issue has been plugged, another leak bursts. What a mess.

The potholes are dreadful here, and this year's no exception. Our high gas tax is supposed to go towards road and bridge repair, too. Apparently, it's not.

The pain they have cost us, the evils that never happened.

I have HORRIBLE pot hole aim.

I try to miss them, but I seem to always hit them while trying to miss them.

The City of Henderson does a great job in filling pot holes. The City of Las Vegas does not. There is one road in particular I have to travel on frequently and it's pretty bad and is in the right lane near an intersection I need to make a right turn on so I've learned to travel in the other lane and go up to the next intersection to make my right turn.

On 2/27/2014 happy housewife said: Here in Fl. potholes are not too much of a problem - no freeze thaw cycle - but we have heard that the road at our campground in Pa has been washed out and we won't be able to get up there until they regrade and put down gravel sometime in the spring. So we can't go "home" until they get it done. Bummer. My niece went up to the campground to check on the camper for us and they had to walk up the steep hill to our site because the road was not passable. We are waiting for a return call from the campground owner about when she thinks she will have it open.

It'll probably be a bit longer for all this snow to melt anyway. We have relatives in Fl too and I know they won't want to get here too soon either. No rush, famous last words.

I was visiting in Chicago for a few days. The potholes are horrid. They had announcements on the news that road crews were working 24/7 to repair them. We were out and about a LOT four days in a row, and granted Chicago is a huge place, but we never saw ANY work going on. It has to be a monumental job!!

Potholes are bad here, too. and it's not just potholes, the way this city spends its money is to only resurface and maintain major streets and boulevards. Once you pull off into a neighorhood, the bumps and holes are horrid. If you have back, neck or hip pain, it's a no-win situation for you.

They are terrible in L A. My son works in the city and had to buy new tires.

The one nice thing of living in a drought area is that the streets are in great condition. I never see a pothole.

Minnesota - land of 10,000 lakes, and 10 million pot holes.
