I often see a USPS truck on Sundays. Recently heard one of their ads which said the USPS delivers more packages than any other delivery service in the nation. With Amazon trying to take over the whole retail scene, i'm glad to see them using that service.
I know I'm fortunate with where I live - I get my QVC packages within 4 or 5 days whether they come USPS or UPS - and I'm on targret for another year during which my Q postage will be under the cost of Amazon Prime. So far my life hasn't required Sunday deliveries!

Does the post office get paid overtime for doing that? Just curious...
Don't know the answer to that particular question but the mail always moves seven days per week so there are always postal workers working on Sunday. Whether they get paid overtime or not I don't know - maybe they just get different days of the week off as part of their regular routine.

We have Prime. Have had Sunday delivery for a long time.

I was surprised when the postal worker delivered mail on Memorial Day .

I don't have Prime, but I get deliveries from Amazon on Sundays, too.

I sometimes get Amazon deliveries on Sunday. I've got Prime; I ordered a few things yesterday & they are out for delivery today. It is one of the perks I like about having Amazon Prime - though I got it for the videos, not the great shipping.

I've heard they have a special contract with Amazon to do Sunday deliveries.

The PO badly needs money because they are the only government department that has to pre-fund their pensions - over 5 billion a year.
I'm happy to see that they are working with Amazon and others. W/O our federal postal service - prices would go through the roof!!!
In my neighborhood, Prime items are also delivered on Sunday by independent contractors (working like paper carriers). They use their own cars, pay for their own gas and have no benefits.
I prefer to see the work go to USPS - their people are bonded, inspected and make a living wage!
In general, the USPS does a poor job with non-Amazon packages. Passing off packages to the USPS for delivery adds unnecessary days to the process. I'm all for ending USPS delivery of any packages. They are a business, and a poorly run one, not a charity.

@willdob3 Sometimes I question why people pay for Prime when regular customers get the same treatment - I'm not a prime member I usually get my items within 2 days.
