How rude a reply is this?

@Foxxee Are those the words he used?  I was confused about it.  I'm just asking. . . did not mean to be rude and I am sorry that is how it seemed.

Lots of issues here.  Delayed mailings (envelopes) by weeks.  Send a check and the recipient just might get it a month later...about 20 mile trip.

Postmaster says there aren't enough "qualified" people for the jobs.

I ask..."not enough people or not enough who can do the job?"

He responded..."there are lots of people, not enough who can do the job."

How difficult is it to work at a local post office?

@Foxxee.  I think it's a difficult job that I wouldn't want.  Monotonous work for long hours stand on hard concrete in heat and cold with heavy lifting.  It would be easy to make mistakes.

@Kachina624

Shouldn't have used the word "difficult."  The words are lack of intelligence and capability.  That's what the postmaster meant.  I didn't use those words for obvious reasons.  However, I am getting feedback about stress, long hours, etc.  That's not what he meant.

If those are the words that the postmaster used, it is he who lacks intelligence and capability; not to mention unprofessional behavior. "A fish rots from the head down."

Why put down USPS like that? Unless you have worked in a PO or been a carrier, you have no clue what is required. It's not easy work. Sheesh.

Good Lord, seriously? 😳

It's a job I would never want, no matter the pay. Right up there with UPS.

People who don't shovel their walks or secure their dogs. Counter people who get abused because a stamp went up by a nickel....city carriers who walk a route on 8Mile in Detroit.

Multiply the complaints here by 100. Every single day.

@Snowpuppy

Let me change from "how difficult", to lack of intelligence and capability, which is what I meant.  That is what the postmaster meant, as well.

You just dug a deeper hole. Every job requires some intelligence and capability, some require more than others. Don't put down those who might not meet your expectations.

Not as rude as your insults to USPS workers.

Re: Post Office Delivery Issue

No problems here with USPS and mail.  I got a delivery (the Aveda shampoo and conditioner set on Sunday.  What is happening now is that heading into Spring, I get mail earlier then the 6:00PM to 10:00PM I got in the winter.  I get mine around 3:00PM.  This about the earliest I get. For some reason, we are last neighborhood when they deliver mail.  Around November in to January, whey deliver after nightfall.  I've gotten mail after 10:00PM.

I'm sure it's not an easy job working at the post office.  Why put down the USPS workers?

Re: Post Office Delivery Issue

I check Informed Delivery every day.  Sometimes the package that is supposed to be delivered today isn't delivered for a day or two.  I had a big ups problem with 4 packages that bounced around for days and ultimately went back to QVC and HSN.  Tracking said I refused delivery on 3 separate attempts which was not true at all.  I think it was probably a new driver and he didn't know how to enter the building.  Interestingly, QVC is sending one package out again.  I have to keep tracking all of them until I get my refunds.
