Israel better hurry LOL My trip was just cancelled. If I chose to go there I would have been quarantined (USA) and the two week trip would have been spent in a hotel.
I am sure... I can proudly say this... that they will be one of the first in line to solve the problem.

treatment helps in the short term - so OP's news is good as is fact that Gilead Ebola drug is in trials for efficacy against covid-19. hopefully a vaccine will emerge - that is safe! - before flu season later in the year. meanwhile hopefully we'll find out more on whether we are experiencing more of the mild strain or the more severe from China (and probably Italy due to their relationship with China). Israel reports whether cases are mild or more severe. the last i saw theirs were weighted more to mild.

Well, I'm going to continue to go with the fact that at least they are TRYING and seem to be very close to isolating something to at least help with it if not cure it. ANY step in the right direction is promising in my eyes. I can only hope that it pans out for the good!!

That's a great headline but embedded in the article,
"This quick, digital, testing has worked previously, Smith said, and cited success in their efforts in the past in finding treatment for diabetes and osteoporosis, for example."
Ah...we know how to prevent/reverse diabetes (T2).
And their systems didn't figure this out???
If they can't figure this out, I don't have much hope for viral cures.

There is no cure on the horizon; they haven't even found a cure for the common cold or seasonal flu yet. Covid 19 is a new virus. . There's a difference between a vaccine and cure. There are several vaccines in various stages of development. If there were a potential cure, it would be world wide news. It would be all over every news outlet and that would be the main topic of conversation.

Who would want a vaccine that they come up with in a couple of weeks and isn't tested adequately for safety? Then we will have another whole host of illness and problems.
Not me. I'm no guinea pig. I want to know if this vaccine will be required of everyone without choice? I'm not taking it until I see what kind of side effects they have with it. I may not take it after that either.

I do have to say that I knew there would be some that would totally knock this article down as hogwash, but I am just glad to hear that there are people out there at least TRYING to find a way to treat this virus, as right now there is nothing! So, more power to them to keep looking and finding ways to help this issue at hand.
Who knows, maybe they will have get a positive reaction to their tests and see that it does work. We shall find out soon enough. Just trying my best to stay positive and not panic any more than I already have :-(
Ty to those who commented. It's interesting to see everyone's perspective(s).

Unfortunately most folks have minimal understanding of what exactly a virus IS. Viruses constantly mutate--cures are almost impossible. It is possible to create a vaccine for a certain strain of a virus, but that is only good for the moment. The challenge is trying to stop viruses from entering hosts--whether the hosts are people or animals. It is not clear yet whether those who have been infected now have any kind of immunity, but Covid 19 can seriously and permanently damage lung tissue. HIV is another type of virus mankind has learned to live with. We may be facing a long-term experience with this virus, or we may be blessed to see it disappear when hot weather returns, something that has happened with other viruses.
Danny Branstetter, MD, Infectious Disease Specialist said this will spread throughout the World. He said it's not if it's a matter of when. He said it may decrease some in the summer months but would be back. ITA we will be dealing with this long term.

This virus will blend in to our lives, much like the flu has.
I bet in one year, people will be like, "Remember how crazy we all acted?"
