GEEZ - thought I'd post a little joke - lighten up You all.

We're frozen solid.  We'll lighten up when we thaw out next week.  They say that's when normal winter weather will return.

Right now, it's 2 here and and feels like -7.

Tomorrow it's supposed to go to 32 and by Friday it will be in the 50's.

Yes!   I saw that on the weather forecast and I thought I read it wrong.  I was giddy at the thought of 32...lol

Comparing this frigid weather to a mosquito bite is ridiculous

Wow.....that’s quite a stretch.

The OP, as well as many of us responding, are not equating the two.

We’re just trying to make good out of a bad situation.

It’s lovely to have a lightened frame of mind...especially for a Sunday.

Re: Positive side to this weather

Where I live (PNW, on the water), it's been mild and pretty much normal.

We went kayaking on New Year's Day.

I read an article about the fact that Alaska has been warmer than Florida.

On NPR there was a piece about Native Americans in Alaska being hurt by the warmer winter.

In the winter, the rivers freeze and this provides the sole means of transport, as people can use their snowmobiles, etc. to travel and hunt.

But with the warmer temps, the rivers aren't freezing as thick, so it's not as safe.  There are even holes in the ice in some areas.

This is preventing the people from getting around and hunting for their food source.

Re: Positive side to this weather

I’ve already made my grocery list and plan to go to the store on Thursday after it warms up.   I haven’t been out of the house since December 16th.   I will restock essentials and be good for another 4-6 weeks.
