I read a port in China that services North America has indefinitely closed down.

Can you imagine the ramifications of this event.

I would like to know more about this.  Might it only be partially closed?

While the rest of the Ningbo port remains in operation, the closed terminal is considered “critical” in servicing North America and Europe, the South China Morning Post reported. Analysts said the closure could cause serious delays around the upcoming holidays and could further increase global inflation.

Googled it. The short answer is it was closed because of a zero tolerance for COVID-19. There was one case so it was closed.

@Mistreatedbycs   there were multiple and major ports in China closed this past June, because of the pandemic.  It was all over the news.

However, are you referencing something more recent than that?

@Caaareful Shopper

I appreciate your comments but I would not start a thread on an old story.

This one is current and can be further read on Breitbart, it is definitely current and should be in everyone's news since it definitely affects the goods we all purchase and maybe some products the consumer is looking for.

CNBC had an article on Thursday that the Meishan terminal of the Zhoushan port is closed temporarily due to one COVID case.  The article states that China's zero-COVID policy has and will continue to impact the shipping industry.  Here's a portion of the article.

================================================================

All inbound and outbound services at the Meishan terminal at the Zhoushan port were suspended on Wednesday until further notice, according to Chinese State media. The terminal is key to servicing shipments to Europe and North America.

Analysts warn that there will be further delays, and consumers will likely have to bear the costs as the holiday season approaches.

Tiura pointed out that the earlier June Covid outbreak led to Shenzhen’s key Yantian terminal slashing 70% of exports as a result. It tripled the wait time for processing shipments from 3 days to 8 or 9 days.
