The first Popeyes store just opened here a few weeks ago.

I tried to get something tonight at the drive thru...there were security guards directing traffic...they said the wait in line would be an hour.

I turned around and left.

Is it THAT good???

Never been to one but Hugh Acheson on Top Chef mentioned it on a recent show as one he enjoys. I think it was the chicken he liked..

they were here years and years ago.

I think they all closed. The red beans and dirty rice were pretty good, but not worth waiting in a huge line for.

Popeyes as in the chicken restaurant? If so, I love their extra crispy spicy chicken breast. {#emotions_dlg.tt1}

It's the best, IMO. YUM! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

I wasn't waiting an hour in the cold...the line inside the store was also out the door.

Now - Dinosaur BBQ is opening in February...that is worth a wait!

A Hardee's was in a spot about 10 years ago (right down the road from me)...then it left and they had Popeyes. One year ago, Popeyes left and Hardee's came back. It's a good thing the building didn't need any major renovations. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

We used to have one here but they closed it, don't know why since it was located in what is now a perfect spot. The city has grown south to it near the highway and truck stops and Walmart, Sams Club, etc. They have some locations 100 miles away, and every time I see a commercial for it I think I would like to try it, but not enough for a 200 mile round trip. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

I would imagine the big lines would be a good sign regarding people's curiosity about it, but I bet there are a lot of messed up orders too. Usually when a new place is that busy mistakes happen. I'd try it on a weeknight or afternoon when it might not be as crowded as a Friday night.

Did anyone else have Jim Dan-Dee's Fried Chicken? We had them in Colorado when I was growing up. They had the best corn fritters sprinkled in powdered sugar. Glad we don't have them here, those things were addictive.
