I also read somewhere this morning that he said he accidentally shot her in his sleep. Who knows what to believe. I hope she recovers.
Just because a couple divorces, does not mean that they are bitter enemies. Sometimes people are better friends, than they are spouses.
Urban legend is that some people sleep with a gun under their pillow. I wouldn't, but, hey, to each their own.
So, if he normally kept his gun under his pillow, I can see how, when he moved in his sleep, (and we ALL move in our sleep), the gun could accidentally go off.
since my hub works out of the city and sometime the state or the country............I sleep with a gun under the pillow........but.........my gun is in it's holster...............................raven

It's as good a theory as any, but isn't the safety supposed to be engaged? Why a second shot? My hink-o-meter is going off with this story.

Right. Not all guns have a safety on them. Which surprised me. I thought that they all did, but, nope, they don't.

One would assume a man in his position, and a man who's no fresh-behind-the-ears young guy, would be a responsible gun owner.
And yet, according to him, the gun was in the bed. Either without a safety or with one that was off.
This makes the point that one cannot assume a responsible gun owner, or those around him or her, are safe.

But you just said he isn't a responsible gun owner.
So your conclusion really doesn't add up. Obviously a responsible gun owner isn't one who has a loaded gun in the bed, so this says nothing about responsible gun owners because he ISN'T one.

I'm thinking ........ all guns should be kept in their holsters. Hopefully, the holsters will prevent accidental shooting............Am I correct? I've never been near a gun, so I wouldn't know for sure.

my holster doesn't allow the gun to be fired..........it's a very hard plastic and have trigger coverage, since my gun is a glock and has no safety..........it's also takes some pull strength to get it out of the holster..........NO WAY it can be fires accidentally in the holster..........................................raven
ETA.........my holster is the same the police department use here.........son the cop gave it to me

Understood, but explain the second discharge, cuz that's what has me completely perplexed.
