Poking fun at myself a little

[ Edited ]

I started my Christmas shopping, LOL.

I know, I know, we don't want to rush the season. Live for the moment and all that.  I agree with all of that. In total agreement, but when opportunity presents itself.....

First, I'm not a huge fan of Christmas anymore, like at all, but I exchange gifts with my family and two friends.

Next, I LOVE the transition from winter to spring so I'm a happy girl right about now.

But, I have bought a gift for my sister for Christmas.  It's a limited spring color Tory Burch wallet so I really couldn't wait till later in the year to get it.  She is going to love it.

And that will do it for me till around October.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Poking fun at myself a little

I don't have a lot of gifts to give extended family members now, but I do have my immediate family that I buy gifts for. Throughout the year, if I see something they may like or could use, especially if it's on sale, I will purchase it and put it in what I call my, 'Christmas Gift Basket.'  I keep that gift basket in my bedroom closet and put a sticky note on each gift with the name of who it's meant for.  By October, I usually have a basket full of gifts and I don't have to scramble in the weeks ahead of Christmas trying to find things/gifts they might appreciate or like.

@gidgetgh I think it's a great thing!   Sorry you are not that into Christmas anymore as I still love that time of year even though so many things change in our lives the happiness remains for me.    I don't have a lot to shop for but I do the same as @ciao_bella , if I see something or and idea strikes me I will buy the gifts and put them aside at the time.  It's fun for me when I start to go through it all closer to the holidays, I'm actually surprised how much I have, LOL.......Zero stress factor.

I like the term Christmas basket rather than gift closet, LOL!

@gidgetgh  That is great that you found something that your

sister will love. I think that is the best way to shop for gifts, instead of scrambling in December trying to find the right gifts.

I have a very large family, children, grand children and great grand children.

That is the way, I've always shopped. When I see the perfect gift , throughout the year, I buy it and put it away for Christmas or birthdays.

The trick is to remember where every thing is stashed. Now, I write it in a notebook. Just have to keep track of where the notebook is.

@Enufstuff - all my Christmas gifts go in the armoire in my office. So I know where they are.  Family is sooooooo much smaller than it used to be sadly and I just exchange with 2 friends now.

Re: Poking fun at myself a little

@gidgetgh   My family of five children has grown to 22 people, so I need to store a lot of gifts. All the aunts and grand parents are no longer with us, but all these children make up a big family.

I wish that the gifts could all fit into a basket or even a closet.

There are  few areas in my house where I can store things. I don't have an attic or a large basement area for storage.

Every year, I say, I won't buy large gifts, just small ones, then I see things, not in the small catagory. I use a lot of gift bags instead of wrapping everything, which makes it easier with large items.

Now that I'm retired, I don't need to buy all those work gifts and friends and I decided not to exchange gifts any longer. At

this age, we really don't need more stuff.

Family is too big now, to buy for so many others.
