@SportyShorty07  Thank you so much and I'm happy that you enjoyed reading them.  If you have not read the other ones that I posted, I named them in my reply to Ahoymate.

If you would like to read those, you can find them by typing the titles in the Search Forums & Blogs searchbar.

You can also find my Toni Doll dresses there, if you have not seen them before. I made and sold those dresses online to collectors and they were made in the styles of 1950s dresses that those dolls wore. I don't have any of those dresses, just the pictures in my files. I want to make more, I just need to get motivated.

@Enufstuff

I come from Brooklyn, NY

I left so long ago, and waited too long to go home.

It haunts my dreams at night and every so often, I smell a plant, an  crushed Autumn leaf, or the early beach surf  and I am home again.

Thank you for your comments about your inspirations and many of those recollections resound with me as well.

@Flatbush   Ah! Now I get it, "The Lords of Flatbush", Brooklyn.  I had not made that connection before.

I understand how scents can live in our memories and how small things that we see can bring those memories back.

Maybe it's something that happens when we are older, but I have been having a lot of dreams about the past, people and

places that I lived.

Some dreams have my children being little again and some have me as a child or living in a previous home.

  It is strange.

First of all, beautiful poetry.......

Speaking of memories, each time I smell the scent of anise, I think of my dear mom.

when I was a young child, my mom used to bake anise biscotti and cookies almost every Saturday.

As I recall, She used anise seed, anise extract, and anisette liqueur in recipes.

And, several times, I dabbed a few dabs of anise extract on my inside wrist, and under my chin........

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

@Enufstuff  I'm having trouble finding your other lovely poems, it could just be that I'm bad with computers! I'll keep trying to find them- it's been a very long day of cooking and aerobics.  I have seen your wonderful Toni doll photos and I love the dresses that you made her- absolutely lovely! You are so talented. Smiley Very Happy

@SportyShorty07   Thank you very much. The other two were

"Country Store" and "Ode to Snow : Celestial Diamonds".

I need to make some dresses for my poor "nekked" Toni Dolls.

I sold all the ones that I made.

@Enufstuff  Thank you! I'm going to look for "Country Store" and "Ode to Snow: Celestial Diamonds" Smiley HappyHeart.  Toni doll has a lot of style with your creations Smiley Happy.  How long does it take you to make each dress? It must take a ton of attention to detail and tiny twists and turns on the sewing machine to sew the dresses.

@SportyShorty07   When I was making those dresses, it was about 15 years ago. I would sew at night after work. It took two or three evenings to make each dress. You don't see it in most of the pictures, but there is an attached lace trimmed slip under each dress.

That was how the original doll dresses were made. There is one yard length of fabric in each, the skirt and the slip. The slip helped to make the dresses pouffy, in that 50s style. I also made little underpants for each dress.

I recently bought silk pink polka dot on brown fabric from China and tiny French lace to make a dress like  one I wore when I was 5-6 years old . I just need to find  a sheer pink fabric for the top of the dress.

I also bought red organza and trims to re-create a dress my grandmother bought for me to wear for Christmas, when I was 12. I got red cotton to line the dress and for the slip.

I just need to make myself start sewing.

The sailor dresses that were posted, were re-creations of my

sailor dress that I wore in first grade. I had to make a pattern for that one.

The first dress that I made and sold was a re-creation of my white dotted Swiss, First Communion dress and veil. I even

included a tiny sterling silver cross on a silver chain. A lady in new Jersey bought that one.

In May, I'll post a picture of that dress.

My Toni Dolls are 14" and 15". It is easier to sew for them than my 8" Ginny Dolls. Those dresses are really tiny.

@Enufstuff  Wow! Your memory recall for dresses you wore as a child and your incredible eye for details in designing the dresses, slips, underpants, accessories etc are absolutely phenomenal! That is just so hip- the fact that you use your fashion sense, eye for color/detail and knowledge of pttern making to do all of this- it is inspiring.  I bet the people who bought the dresses that you made treasure them so much.  Wow- and not only do you sew in such intricate ways, but you can make a dress in 2 to 3 nights! You seem to be limitless in your creativity- and you know, I also can relate to taking breaks from creating new things.

As you know, I majored in art and I've made artwork ever since I was a kid, and one time I just was in a creative rut a few years ago and didn't do any watercolor paintings or drawings for 2 years.  Someitmes you have to wait for inspiration and motivationn to hit your mind in equal amounts to go forward with a project, and its best to wait for that perfect combo than to start before we're ready.  Please tag me when you post your next Toni dress- that First Communion dress sounds lovely- all of the dresses are, Smiley Happy
