I wish that QVC would shut down every single thread on this topic as they have several others. There is no longer discussion of helpful information, just arguing and yelling (predictable, of course.)
And I absolutely believe that there are some posters getting their kicks out of frightening others with their "education."
Shut it down QVC. Shut it down now.

I have three tests scheduled next week at the imaging center and I can't decide whether I should go or not. It takes so long to even get an appt.
They handle your insurance card and id at the front desk, you have to touch the mammogram plastic and so on plus the nurse is touching you.
I don't think everyone will wear gloves but should I?
I rarely go out anyway except for this kind of stuff.
Do I just take my beekman wipes or wear gloves myself? I don't know or am I being paranoid?

Everyone has to balance and prioritize what is important to them. To me, life is more important than a job or school
That’s really easy to say when you don’t have a job, don’t got to school and in reality don’t have anywhere to go.

That's all fine but for a lot of us, lack of income can ruin a life pretty quickly. We aren't talking about a vacation here.
Keep in mind that @Reever is retired, and by her own admission semi-shut in anyway. No job, no school, nowhere to go.That makes it pretty easy to stay home and throw rocks at others for doing ANYTHING differently.
THIS retiree is doing what is appropriate for ME based on my health and risk assessment. That includes domestic air travel this weekend and going to a couple of hockey games. That doesn’t include telling other people what THEY should do. I know it’s too much to expect from the gloom and doom society of the Q boards, but I would hope others would do the same.

I agree, and I’ve said so more than once, only to be shouted at by those who claim that they rely on getting their info here. That’s almost more frightening than the thought of being exposed to the virus.

I wanted to go to work, but my boss told me to stay home. The university if shutting down tomorrow and Friday. I got sick last week. Just a bad cold. Doctor confirmed it. I'm better but after talking to my boss, threw in the towel for the rest of the week.

It's more the attitude with which it's being delivered than the information and data itself. Calling fellow posters "ignorant" is beyond the pale and most definitely violates community standards as well as being a very shallow, callous way to deal with the situation.

Everyone has to decide what's best for them. Common sense tells me to stay home. I'm in the high risk group so have chosen to avoid exposure to Covid-19. I hope to stay healthy for myself and so I don't pass the illness on to others.
For the regular flu there is a vaccine -- this vaccine can prevent people from getting the flu or, if they do get the flu, it will be a milder illness. Also, for the regular flu, there are anti-viral treatments that may cure the illness and make it last fewer days.
For the new Covid-19, there is no vaccine and no cure.
Please get your information from medical professionals, not these boards.

The reason for staying at home and avoiding other people is because people can be carriers of the virus with no symptoms of the virus. I live in New Jersey but, I work in Manhattan and my office is closed for a few weeks or until the virus is contained. Several people have tested positive in my area where I work. I can not believe some people here in what they post they do not know what they are talking about.

@kitcat51 .. my brother is physician. He said that we should be worrying more about getting the flu than the coronavirus. He also said wearing masks is totally useless in the prevention of getting sick..
Updated to Add: My brother's sister-in-law is an infectious disease specialist. So she is an expert in this field. She is not panicking at all.
