I don't normally ask for this kind of thing, but then I don't normally have a husband in hospital!
Early Monday morning he was taken to ER with chest pains. To cut a very long story short, he has 5 pulmonary embolisms across both lungs, 3 DVTs in his right leg and the embolisms caused a heart attack. To quote the pulmonologist 'you really should be dead'. Apparently 3 of the embolisms are so large that any one would normally kill someone or at least put them in ICU.
He's doing 'ok' and the good news is that his heart has suffered no permanent damage. The problem at the moment is that even with heparin and coumadin, they can't get his blood to thin quickly enough so he's having test after test to find out why and what else can be done.
Compared to Alexia (who posted earlier) and her unimaginable pain, we are blessed - he should be able to come home Sunday, but nonetheless it is very touch and go still as the clots could dislodge and travel to his heart. Truth be told I'm scared to death, but I need to be strong for him (and my 15 year old son, and my 6 dogs, and my 2 horses!) and carry on as normal as much as I can.
Just knowing that some of you out there might be willing to send me a few positive thoughts would be a great comfort. Thanks xo
