@rockygems123 haha, I agree. Lots of complaints. Sometimes I feel like it's my grandmother posting. She complained about the oddest things. I would have to sit and have a chat and explain the way things work these days. I think she just got bored and started complaining. I loved her to pieces but I would have to say, "Grammy, it's not what you think, this is the way it works now.....".

I work in the restaurant industry. I am sure Walmart requires for the person to offer the beverage. Our company requires us to give our talk when you sit down and offer all of the story points. We have secret shoppers who know what they are looking for. If we fail our shop our hours and sections are cut. I am sure Walmart works on the same principle.
The same goes for the grading system. If we get to many poor reviews we have to go for coaching and again our hours and sections depend on those scores.

@cjm61 I truly LOL on "I feel like it's my grandmother posting" and complaining about the oddest things. So funny.

I don't know, I just don't see how any of this was worth a second thought let alone a posting here. I can tell you when my husband and I got Covid I used Walmart pickup service for the very first time and I was beyond grateful for it and for their employees who do this job. I give them nothing but kudos!

I used to work for a very large International Company. We also had secret shoppers at least every month. And "Corporate" really paid attention to EVERY comment. There were contests in the region about scores.
Managers pounded us all the time. And we would hear from her if the secret shopper was not impressed.
I am sure that Corporate is not happy with feedback and is trying something different.

Well, DH and I were in our local Walmart today. Did the self-checkout and had some wine in our cart. Before we could even look around to ask for help (because of the age requirement override), the clerk was there, putting in her code.
She was paying attention and doing a good job without being asked. We didn't get any kind of survey or "star" thing pop-up, but I definitely would've given 5 stars, if we had.

I took it as a desire for all of the companies to stop pushing "add-ons" to our orders or request tips. I went to a movie theater recently and when I purchased the tickets, they said, "do you want to add a tip for [fill in the blank charity]?" I said ok. Then my daughter wanted ice cream so we went 20 feet away to a little kiosk. When I paid, the lady asked me if I wanted to donate. Then another stop for popcorn and yep, I was asked AGAIN if I wanted to donate for a third time. I said NO THANK YOU!

It must be completely exhausting finding something new and different to complain and moan about, especially in this heat.

If you do not want the beverage. A no thank you would suffice.
However, there maybe others who would appreciate the offer, so need for the service/offering to be dropped.
Most companies want feedback. This is not new.

Suggesting the addition of a bottle of cold water seems thoughtful and I'd be more than happy to give a good rating for excellent service. Not sure why it would be upsetting to anyone unless you're in a really big hurry.
