Last night I called Delta because I wanted to fly back one day earlier from my trip next week. The first person told me we can do that but there will be a penalty fee (which I knew). I asked how much and he said abt $150. I thought that was high, since the who RT ticket was only $400, but I considered it. I called back to do it about 1/2 hour later and was told that it would cost $800+ to come back earlier.
I said WHAAAAAAAAAAAT? Well I was told there is the $150 penalty and then the adjustment to the fare since I was calling only a few days before and that would cost $650.
I simply wanted to return 24 hours earlier everything else staying the same. The airlines are taking us all for "a ride" but not in a good way. I told them no thanks to the $800. I do believe if we stand up for ourselves these companies will stand back. Look what happened with Bank of America last week. The people said no and the bank stood back.
I hear the next thing the airlines are going to charge for is the "seat". Yes. True. It will be a separate charge from the "travel price". SRO anyone?
