Please Explain "Trends" To Me

Whether it be the "Q" or the "Florida Channel" they are always talking about trends, about what is "trending"

It seems whatever is being presented, it is the "in" color,the "in" design

Would anybody ever say ,for example..."purple ?, no one is wearing purple this season"

Jumping on a "trend" seems to me, you want to look like everyone else

Where is the individuality?

Shouldn't you wear what you like and suits you, rather than being told what looks good on you and what you should like
