I think I would also take it a step further and report it to corporate.

I was afraid the employees would end up doing everything.

I don't know if the owner will step up with the money to do all this or not. I don't know who owns it or where they live.
I called anonymously by the way. I didn't want them to know my GD was involved. I own a business in this small town and I don't want to be known as the trouble maker either. So I wasn't THAT brave.
Thanks for all your reponses.
Is it REALLY worth the pittance of a paycheck your GD will be getting?
I suggest they ALL walk off and refuse to do that job.
One year the manager at Walmart made all of the closing shift clock out...but he had locked the doors and told everyone they had to do end of year inventory "off the clock" and couldn't leave until it was finished.
My son piped up and told the manager his mom had warned him about working at Walmart and what they wanted them to do was illegal. He said they had to open the doors and pay people for the extra hours they were working...or he was calling the police on his cell phone and telling them they were being held against their will. He also said he would call the local TV stations and the paper too.The manager said the GM at the store got an end of year bonus based on keeping costs down and he had exceeded his overtime money. My son then told the manager the GM needed to do the inventory himself then. My son said he was scared...but the other employees backed him up - and the manager backed down and paid everyone who decided to stay.
If the PH employees band together, they have little to lose and a lot to gain. The store couldn't operate without their hard work (and low wages!)
BTW - No, my son wasn't fired...he got a promotion to front end manager.

I'm surprised it wasn't closed down immediately.
Violations have to be posted where customers can see them in my county.

The same here...and NYC is VERY strict now.

It wouldn't be worth it for me. The meeting is this morning, so I guess she will find out what the plans are. She may decide to quit in the end. Depends on what they say today I guess. There aren't that many employees, so maybe she could get the others to refuse to clean up. That's a good idea.

That's ABSOLUTELY what she needs to do...get everyone to refuse to clean up dead mice, cockroaches, etc.
Those are jobs for pros, not minimum wage fast food employees.
I had a friend who worked at another YUM brands store, Taco Bell. He was the general manager and it was HIS responsibility to make sure the bathrooms were in working order, clean, etc.
The employees need to stand up to the manager - he is responsible to the owners.

Can't afford professional exterminators my foot! The clean up is one thing (depending on what that involves!). But these kids are not professional plumbers either.
Be sure you tell your granddaughter to walk out if they want her to fool with extermination chemicals. THAT could ruin her health for the rest of her life. Seriously mima.
Perhaps there is some way you or another family member could just give her the $ she would be losing and she could just walk away today?

PS: I don't know exactly what is in extermination chemicals but leukemia and aplastic anemia can be caused by chemical exposure to benzene(and others) so this is serious.

I don't think they will expect them to exterminate! The employees did have to "catch" the birds in the basement last night. She said there was only one left to get! Yes, these are live birds pooping where the pizza boxes are kept.
I'll call her this morning and see what happened at the meeting and tell her to try to get everyone to refuse to do clean up.
Thanks!
