Why weren't they shut down immediately? The broken freezer and the rodents should have been enough to shut the restaurant down.

I don't know! I forgot one thing. They can only serve thin crust pizza right now because the dough isn't fresh and won't raise enough for the thicker crust. I don't know if it has to do with the freezer being broke or if it's too old.

Since the freezer was broken then all of the food in should have been thrown out. The owner carries insurance so he/she should recoup any losses.

It's too bad this information can't be ""leaked"" to the public.

I wouldn't want to eat anything from that restaurant. ewww

Most states, if not all, post inspection results online by county. Not sure how often they are updated.

Every establishment "should" conduct their business like the state was going to show up that day. In my old life, I was a dietary supervisor, for a 400 bed nursing home. I didn't get the nickname "Kitchen Witch" because I was slack on the HACCP rules.

Mima good for you!!!! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1} I had a response typed out, and then my puppy Mia jumped up and decided to contribute by hitting the escape button with her paw and it all disappeared, I guess she was editing me. Anyway, I think you did a great thing and I am glad they inspected your PH so quickly. They can't ignore those kind of complaints because if people get sick and lawsuits happen, they have to be accountable for not inspecting it. I'm not surprised they didn't automatically shut it down because they usually give the establishment an opportunity to remedy the violations. However, consider the gross conditions and so many issues, I can't see how that owner will be able to fix them all, and I'm sure this PH will be on the top of their list to follow up on. It baffles me how they thought they could run a food business without a working freezer or proper ventilation, let alone the clogged drain and stagnant water and critters. Clearly the owner was not investing back into their business.

I also live in KS in a small city/town (gosh I hope this isn't our PH) but we have 3 PH's and the one I go to is a dine-in/carry out only. I only get a pizza from them maybe twice a year, but I always go to pick it up and the dining area which is clearly visible is always clean in appearance and there have always been lots of customers dining there. The floors are clean and the staff are neat and clean in their work attire. Obviously I didn't get in inspect the kitchen, but when counters are clean and the staff seems invested in their work, I tend to give BOTD. I'm sure very few restaurants are perfect, but those violations in your PH are just gross and there is no excuse for it.

I only read part of your other thread and was very happy you decided to call and report them. Every time I see the new commercials for Blake Shelton and his new BBQ pizzas it made me think, if Blake could see the conditions of that PH he would not approve for sure.

Anyway, kudos to you, you might have saved some lives or kept some people (or more people) from getting very sick. I can't imagine how they could possibly remedy all those violations in 2 weeks, but either way it will be a win-win. If they do, then it is a cleaner and safer restaurant, if they don't then they close it. Your GD is going off to school regardless, and it sounds like she has more than earned her paycheck. Glad you took the initiative to make the call! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Thank you for backing your GD and reporting the conditions. I am relieved to hear that the state responded quickly.

The place should close on their own to clean up properly.
