That is a very disturbing story with a not so great ending.
people lived a hard life with many difficult choices and sacrifices. We are all very spoiled in today’s world.

Bio father left the family.
Mother had new boyfriend who didn't want these children.
Children sent to live elsewhere.
Mother remarries and has 4 more children; these children are not given away.
This story was on a program years ago. The only victims here are the children, not the father, not the mother, not the "adoptive parents", not the boyfriend, etc. etc. etc.

Think of women facing divorve: standard of living goes down 70% for newly single mothers/family.
Standard of living raises for non custodial faher or ex-spouse.
Mothers giving up full custody to change those odds for their children and are stigmatized by society.
I have a close friend this happened to; she couldnt bring herself to talk about that decision for decades after.

I have seen those photos and read the story of those children’s lives before.
This is so very sad and heartbreaking for everyone involved.

@maestra In some cases, yes. However this story was not one of those instances.
I'm sorry for your friend and I hope she has found some acceptance and peace somewhere, at some point.

@maestra Selling your children is not the same as giving up custody in order to provide them with a better life.
I think we've come a long way as a society in lessening the stigma for giving up your children so they have a better life, especially when the parent(s) have drug or mental issues. We still aren't perfect but it is much better.
As another poster mentioned, in this case, the only victims are the innocent children.

This is just one story we know about, I would hate to know how many more children were sold or given away. Looking at the pictures and reading the story left me feeling sick and heartbroken for the innocent children. There are thousands of children in other countries right now who don't have enough food to eat or water and milk to drink and barely enough clothes to keep them warm from the cold. Here in America there are children living on the streets. Homeless children living in shelters and cars in what is supposed to be the wealthiest country in the world.
Along with helpless animals being mistreated are the helpless innocent children who are also being mistreated. This has been happening for far too many years all over the world. I pray that a day will come when the innocent and helpless children and animals will no longer be the victims and will be loved and cared for. Will it ever happen? I don't know, but I sure hope so, God, I hope so.
