I got rid of my land line and all the calls were like that.  It was hard to do at first but thought give it a try and if I miss I can always hook up again.   Family and friends know my cell number.  I also block any calls ringing in not on my list.  I do have all the important calls on my list of contacts.  Doc, dentist, etc.

Don't miss it and anyone who calls can leave a message.  I like it also says potential spam call too.

One of the better things I decide to do.

Great idea to get rid of the land line @Roscoe the Rascal .

This is why I absolutely don't miss for a second the landline that I dumped 10+ years ago!

And I get virtually no spam calls or texts on my cell.

@THEY CallMe Mr Wilkes Odd because the cell phones and messages are the main source of spam here.  Not so much the land line.

Virtually nothing on my cell.  Completely clutter and spam and garbage free.

We counted at least 13 or more, phone calls yesterday.  We think they stopped for lunch, then right back at it.  It was crazy!!! We couldn't believe how many calls the answering machine took.  We didn't talk to anyone.

@qualitygal        we have had phones for many years that automatically block unwanted calls and the phone doesn't even ring         these are not new technology the newer models probably are expensive now       worth every penny to us by our telephone not even ringing

Re: Phone calls new high for the day.

So I'm not the only one getting 24 "scam" calls a day!  I've turned off the ringer but calls come in when I'm on another legit call.  Sometimes they leave a robotic message and threaten me with "further action" or "letter from a law firm".  They're ruthless. One of these days I'm going to answer the calls and say "Sorry but she's no longer with us. Apparently she's left the country and we've had the FBI searching for her body because she was so upset about all your phone calls and threats. DATELINE is doing an episode on her mysterious disappearance - would you be willing to give an interview?"

Re: Phone calls new high for the day.

Got rid of the landline about 12 years ago. All the calls I get now are on my cell phone - so annoying. So, I turned the "block unknown calls"  on and now if the calls isn't in my contact list the phone doesn't ring.

Then I just go in and delete them. Easy and done.

What ever happened to the 'Do Not Call Registry'?? What a farce that is.

Blocking does nothing, they'll just use another number..   : (

@Sooner   Exactly!! Who the heck can get SPAM on a landline, LOL.. Its the cell phone that gets all the SPAM calls, text alerts, holiday promotions, etc.

I don't know any of my family or friends who have ever said they get SPAM on their landlines. Most keep landlines to the family and close friends and pay the measly $5.00 a month for private listing

@QVCTVSpree We kept our landline because my mom was in a nursing home and we wanted to be available if cell service was down.  We've just not done anything to change it since she passed.

I don't get much spam or notifications on my cell either because I don't have notifications turned on I guess.
