True testimony that there are wonderful people out there. Hope he gets the recognition he deserves.

He stayed and stood his ground so others could run to safety without issue. He paid the ultimate price for doing so if what we've read is correct.
In the end, this MUST be what HIS family wants; even more so if they believe this what HE would want. I support them in whatever they choose to do.
How nice of you and your husband! My husband is also a veteran.

So far, the petition has received just over 22,000 signatures. It would need 100,000 signatures to get a response from the White House.

I cannot imagine anyone not agreeing with this request.
I mourn the loss of the potential for potential. For all.
ITA @Cakers3 !
He's just a kid and he shouldered so much. He did his duty as he saw it, he would have grown to be a wonderful man if he had the chance.

Did they say anything about the other 2 JROTC members?
“Peter Wang, Martin Duque and Alaina Petty - were JROTC members”

I don’t have a problem with this young man being buried in a military cemetery, but I doubt that it will be approved even with million signatures.
ROTC is not being in the military, it’s a cadet program for future military members. Not everyone in ROTC joins the military after graduation.
This young hero did not preform a military function. The Dept of Defense is very strict and not apt to change their rules.
i wish peace to his family and to Peter. His family should be proud that they raised a wonderful, caring young man who through his quick thinking actions probably saved lives.

What exactly is a full-honors burial?
I would assume it would have flag covering & taps, yes?
Would his grave be in a different cemetery?
