Sometimes I think the lazy son just opens the door and lets it out and other times I get the "oh, I forgot to put the collar on". How many times can that happen.
So, one night I got so angry (I had seen the dog go on my front lawn) I picked it up in a bag and threw it on their front walk - believe me they are lucky I couldn't find the shovel or there would have been no bag.
Well, one night my hubby was out walking my dogs in my yard - he comes in the house and all of a sudden I'm smelling dog sh*t. Sure enough he stepped in it. Next day another pile. Went down to their house and knocked on the door. I know they were home I could here music. So I pounded on the door and continued to do so. Finally, I yelled I wasn't going anywhere. When the son's girlfriend answered the door (on her phone of course) I told her I was going to call animal control if I saw the dog in my yard again.
People are just plain rude. And, did you notice none of them walk their dogs on their own lawn.
I understand your frustration....in my Condo complex people just dont pick up after their dogs and its a real problem....Its against the COA Rules AND there's a city ordinance too that starts at $200 and goes up to $2000....but people just ignore the rules....They think my property and a couple of other neighbors are their personal dog park.... I called our COA and reported a couple of them all they do is send out a general email that no one pays attention to....and one of the dogs is owned by a cop & his girlfriend...SMH!!! Another neighbor has two vicious Chihuahuas she puts them on a leash but doesnt contain them so they just run all over lawns pooping and peeing dragging their leash behind....And one time I asked her nicely to pick up after her dogs and she said she was going to report me to the COA for harrassment. I said fine, from now on I will just call the COA AND also Animal Control!!!! I think other people reported her (she was a renter) and she eventually moved away....there was dancing in the streets.... I don't understnd it... Ive had dogs and the responsibility comes with ownership of a dog....I love animals, just not some of the owners!

Another thing is people with cigarette butts who drop them everywhere and people who empty their car ashtrays in the sidewalk in front of your house.
@lovescats That is absolutely disgusting.
We had a problem throughout the city with people putting soiled diapers in recycle bins- and some not even in bags,
It came to the point where all bins were labeled regarding diapers and fines. City workers were actually going around checking bins after that.
We do not put our bins out the night before unless we know there will be pouring rain in the morning. Our cameras would pick up anybody using our bins anyway and easily identified.

The area between the sidewalk and curb is considered public property in my state. I've lived in several states and it was always public property.
I walk my dog a lot. He thinks he has to pee on every light pole. Big deal. I'd rather he peed than the other. By the way, I alway carry a poop bag as I think that's rude to leave in someone else's space.

@Carmie wrote:I stopped planting flowers around my mailbox for that very reason. I have a corner lot. Some people allow their dogs to defecate in my yard too.
To add insult to injury, the school buses stop at my house too. Every morning for years I have hoards of children running through my lawn, picking my flowers and climbing on our vehicles in the driveway. Their mothers sit on the curb with their faces glued to their phones.
I have talked to them many times and my DH has screamed at them.
I have thought about using that "deer be gone" spray that stinks so bad. We use it on our shrubs and it does keep the deer away. It really does smell bad. Maybe it'll work for dogs and kids.
I have tried the cute polite yard signs, but they haven't worked. It's a losing battle.
Ugh. I have a corner lot and a bus stop too. I honestly feel your pain. The bark has been picked off the whole side of my sycamore and they run through my flowerbeds.

It's rude to let your dog mark everywhere too. He should be discouraged from doing that.

@mrssweetiebear wrote:@lovescats If you walk your dog, which most all responsible people who love their dogs do, they are going to pee and poo on their walk. I don't let my dog go up to people's steps. She might also go in her own yard but we walk daily in our neighborhood for exercise and of course she'll go again. We do so even more now that all our state and county public parks, beaches and trails are closed due to Covid-19.
I hope you pick up your dog waste at the parks and beaches and take it home it there is no room to throw it away. They showed on the news here the terrible messes left by dog owners at state parks who left the waste bags in places for hot charcoal briquettes. If you dogs goes in someone's yard it's rude.

The "therapy" or "emotional support" animal is being really taken advantage of; too many people are calling their pooky little dogs "support animals" so they can carry them in their handbags. They don't even know they need to be card-carrying and the dog should have on an ID that says they are official. We have a woman in our neighborhood who has a coton de tulear that she walks through the neighborhood every morning in a stroller! His name is Ernesto and she says he gets too tired to walk very far.....and he does get out of the stroller long enough to do his business and she cleans up after him. He is very cute but he is a growler....

@lovescats Yes, of course I do as I've already stated. I always have poo bags with me and I always pick up no matter if it's a public park, street or a yard in my neighborhood. I don't mind when people let their dogs go on my yard but I do mind if they don't pick it up.
What I really find worse and obnoxious though is cat owners whose cats leave their own yards to use their neighbor's yard as their litter box. That does not ever get picked up and my dog always searches it out and digs it up and finds it as a "treat". Talk about rude!
