We purchased a Pet Plan insurance policy for our puppy last year when she was just a few months old. Based upon pet insurance ratings, it appeared to one of the better plans.

Well, our not quite a year old puppy got sick with a urinary trac infection. This incurred medication and some lab work. We submitted all the paper work they requested at that time. The medical reciepts, the vets signed diagnosis. We waited and waited for payment. 3 weeks later they notify us the vet has to send in a "written" review of our pets "health problem". That the signed by the vet diagnosis and all medical receipts is not enough.

So, this meant another trip to the vet office which is 10 miles from our house. Copies of all paperwork. Reguested the vet fax to Pet Plan what they requested which they did.

Now, Pet Plan is requesting any and all previous medical records for our puppy....sigh. We have forwarded all her vaccination records from the vet with the intial claim. She has never been ill up until this Cystis episode. Just vaccine records. They are still not satisfied with all this paperwork which we have faxed. 7 pages of vaccination and spay documents, plus the one reciept and signed vet documentation for her Cystis. We also have a $100 deductible with Pet Plan---so as of this date they have not paid us at all for the meds, the lab work and the exam.

If you have had any interaction with this pet insurance company, please post a review of your experiences. So far, ours has been very negative. We will not be renewing our policy with them again.

If anyone has a good pet insurance company they have actually used and good communication and payments were made without a lot of hassle. Please let us know. We feel documentation, and the vets signature, and written notes, and vaccination documentation would be enough for payment from Pet Plan. Evidently NOT!
