@Tinkrbl44 US Geological Survey says in a very good explanation on the USGS web pages (not copyrighted because US Govt. agency):
Earthquakes are equally as likely to occur in the morning or the evening. Many studies in the past have shown no significant correlations between the rate of earthquake occurrence and the semi-diurnal tides when using large earthquake catalogs.
Several recent studies, however, have found a correlation between earth tides (caused by the position of the moon relative to the earth) and some types of earthquakes. One study, for example, concludes that during times of higher earth and ocean tides, such as during times of full or new moon, earthquakes are more likely on shallow thrust faults near the edges of continents and in (underwater) subduction zones.
I live in Southern CA and have had more than my fair share of earthquakes. The best ones are so mild that you sleep right through them, and hear about them on the news.
When I moved to CA, I started making note of each earthquake in CA. Somewhere in my research I noticed that something like 80% of earthquakes happen in the three days before ... and the three days after ... a Full Moon. The explanation was that the gravitational force (pulling tides) was strongest then. I also noticed that most earthquakes happen first thing in the morning. I have no idea why.
So, that's the reason for my question. Just collecting information and evidence.

The destruction and loss of life is just heart breaking. Now that Dr. Oz is unemployed I wish he would step up like Bethany did and partner with some programs to get help and money and supplies to Turkey.

First thing I saw on the news this morning was video of rescue crews pulling small children, alive and looking unharmed, out of deep holes in the piles of debris. The children looked so overwhelmed by the shouting and being picked up and passed among the crew members to get them to safety. God bless them all. They are dropping microphones down into spaces below building debris listening for voices. When they hear them they start digging like crazy in hopes of getting them out in time. Such a major tragedy, bit even some bright moments of hope when they rescue some children and others they find who survived. Pray they find even more.

GAZIANTEP, Türkiye — Members of Virginia Task Force 1, based in Fairfax County, touched down in Turkey Wednesday following a massive deadly earthquake there. They will join rescue teams to search for survivors.
Rescue teams toiled through the night in Turkey and Syria, searching for signs of life in the rubble of thousands of buildings toppled by the catastrophic earthquake. The death toll rose Wednesday to more than 11,000 in the deadliest quake worldwide in more than a decade.
The United States Agency for International Development's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance made the determination to deploy the elite team from Fairfax County. They are one of only two teams across the country to be deployed outside of the United States.
[Do such rescue teams stop off in Germany to be briefed, etc.? The team left from here two days ago, I believe. They will hit the ground running. I have had an interest in this rescue team since the 1990s because the team lead at that time did TV repair on the side. We had him in our house several times. Very bright and quick-minded man. We were highly impressed by him (in a good way).]
