THIS is why, when I had to have an appendectomy AND cholesystectomy (gall bladder removal) AND I had to have them only months apart, I BEGGED the people in the
"green room" (my term for operating room)
to NOT leave, I begged them, please, don't leave, while I was shaking and quaking, scared out of my wits. I begged them, please don't leave until I'm done. They looked at each other quizzically but I KNEW what I meant. I was too afraid to explain.
This is just one of the reasons why I would NEVER, EVER, EVER put a child on this planet. If I could hang a sign out in space I would warn off any traveler.....

UPDATE
OK, I checked. The plastic surgeon went ahead because although he was in the operating room and there was a surgery in process the doctor was not operatng at the time. A second doctor was leading the operation at the time of the call. The doctor explained this to the Superior Court Commisioner, Gary Link. Link had asked about a postponement and stated that he was uncomfortable with a doctor attending zoom court while in mid surgery. That's when the doctor explained that he was not operating. The judge said that would not be "appropriate" and postponed the trial.
I understand perfectly why. They just don't give a ******... because it's not THEIR butt on the chopping block. Very simple, AND they can kill two birds with one stone! Other poster is right. Law suit. THAT doctor would NEVER forget me.........

Even though the Surgeon who was talking with the court was not actually performing surgery at the time of the call, the fact that he was standing in the OR where other staff who were engaged in the surgical process could hear his conversation could have been distracting . It only takes a little distraction during a surgical procedure for " stuff " to happen such as surgery problems of sponges left inside patients . There should not be any distractions during surgery .

I think that type of conducting 'business' over the internet will be more common practice especially in the the post-covid future where there will be no need to be there in-person any longer. Post-covid life will be much like what we're seeing today. I think we can expect to see it that way for quite some time going forward.

Terribly arrogant and unethical decision on the doctor’s part. Didn’t something similar happen to Joan Rivers that contributed to her death?

@skatting44, then why, as shown on several news programs, were his gloves bloody?

@MarpI just heard this story on the afternoon news. I'm baffled. He should be sanctioned in some sort of way.

Thanks goodness. The poor person who was being operated on is obviously under anesthesia and was none the wiser.

@SilleeMee, I agree with you totally. However, humans have to be there to operate. Now, I do know of some high tech and advanced medicine where robotics are involved in some operating procedures. That's not so prevalent though. A human has to operate on another human even post covid. Scarey mess! Everything's changing around us as you stated (post covid) and it scares me.

Check post #2 on this forum for the details that another person posted. My opinion was based solely on the facts that other posters noted abt this case. I did not see anything on TV, so good for you if you have additional info. The bottom line is the same , if he was 1st or 2nd surgeon on the case - he should not have been involved in the court call while in the OR.
