I, for one, could pass up summer, altogether.
My bills skyrocket. You have to shell out for the following:
1. mowing crew (I got 2/1/2 acres. The biggest part is pasture just gets mowed twice a summer.) Front, back and sides gets mowed and trimmed twice monthly.
$$$
2. pay somebody to spray for tiny black ants. $$
3. kill off weeds in the part of the driveway that isn't concrete. $$
4. Birds nest on front porch eaves have to pressure wash the nests down.
5. Sprinklers turn on at midnight. Have to water nightly
at least.
6. have to pack my Yeti cooler with ice packs when you go get groceries.
7. Pat on sunscreen, then, foundation with SPF in it too

My body has never done well with that kind of weather. My earliest memory of being super sensitive to heat was at 9 years old. Now with MS it's even more important I stay cool. I started back on my sweating drops 2 days ago and they have started working. I am sitting at Discount Tire and am actually a tiny bit chilly but definitely not complaining about it!

I'm in Arizona and we would love to see the 90's as a temperature and I don't mean the low temperature. It's going to be from 105-115 next week and every week until late September. At least there's no humidity to speak of.

96 right now in my north Metro Atlanta suburb 5:20 PM).
I haven't opened the blinds in my house in days, trying to not bring additional heat from the sun into my house.
We have not had any rain at all in 7 days and there is none in the forecast.
I'm watching the Atlanta Braves play right now, game started at 4. I can't believe all those people are there sitting in the blazing sun. I feel for them and the players. There is no way I could do it.

So true, @Meowingkitty. It got hot too soon this year.

Monday will start a 5 or 6 day stretch of disgusting 90+ degrees and humidity. I just dread it. My 73 year old body does not do well in that type of weather.
Everyone stay safe in this heat. Lots of water for you, and pets, if you have them. Check on elderly family and friends too.
@CrazyKittyLvr2 I am also in NE Pa. This was the perfect day. The grandkids wanted to go on a day trip to Lake Tobias to see all the beautiful animals. We walked around for 4 hours and enjoyed the tour. It could not have been a better day to go. I always say I am allergic to summer weather. The heat and humidity sucks the life out of me....so I guess I will be staying in for the week. This is when I start counting the days until Fall begins.

@PilatesLover wrote:I have asthma and autoimmune disease and those days make me positively sick. Joints swell up, I can't breathe and I get nauseous.
I saw it's going to be a bad hurricane season, too.
Same here-I have what my Rheumatologist thinks is the beginnings of autoimmune issues-very high ANA-I feel sick in the heat-joints, nausea, all over malaise feeling-I'm assuming it's related to autoimmune. We have a pool and I look like I'm going snorkeling when I'm out there-I have to cover up most of my body or I feel severe issues from the sun.
