I've been moaning and groaning about my dresser drawers for a long time. I don't keep clothing in them, all of my paperwork and bills, important documents, etc. have filled up all six drawers. I was able to empty two of the drawers into a large QVC box a couple of weeks ago. When my daughter came that Sunday, she moved the box to my dining room table so I could begin to go through all of it . . . there's so much junk in there. So then we wound up talking about how I would go about getting it shredded because it's all personal stuff. She said they have shredders on the Island several times a year and she would take it down there and get it shredded for me.

So yesterday, I'm sitting in the car (on the Island after our little luncheon) eating a delicious Rita's Ice custard (layered chocolate and coffee . . . OMG!! Good thing I had brought my Lactaid tabs with me, I never tasted anything so delicious)! Anyway, I'm sitting there, and this same daughter puts a gift in front of me. A very upscale looking shredder!! So now I can shred while I go through all of this paperwork!!

When we got home, my other daughter set it up for me and I can now start whenever I want to. I HAVE THE MOST THOUGHTFUL KIDS!!

A personal shredder is the best invention ever!! We're on our third one....they last forever but eventually they do wear out. That was a thoughtful gift-for your own peace of mind.

We have collection spots every now and then at the credit union for the shredder companies but I never felt comfortable using them. I'm told they are safer than safe but there's always been this nagging doubt......

What a nice gift - something you can use.

The custard sounds wonderful too.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your day, Ford.

Be sure and get a bottle or 2 of the oil you add to some of the paperwork...so it keeps the blades clean and operating...otherwise after a bit... it clogs the blades up and the machine burns up. Learned this the hard way...finally a sales associate explained how this helps...after 3 machines burned up.

We have Rita's Water Ice shops dotted all over South Jersey. They've added the frozen custard fairly recently and it is superb!!

Thank you. I've got a shredder and didn't know about the oil. Where can I get it and what's it called, shredder oil?

croemer.....I was thinking the same thing. I have one of those criss cross cutters, and have a piece of paper I run through it. It has oil on it.....an extra one came with my unit, but I did buy a package of them when I bought my cutter. This machine has been a God send for me.

Plus I don't trust those places where you can take your papers to for them to destroy. Have seen on a number occasions on the news where peoples personal information has been found on the street which included SS #'s and so forth.
