This is what I stress to my son over and over again as he is learning how to drive. I tell him that he must drive defensively and be aware of his surroundings. He must pay attention because a lot of people driving don't. And sure enough, he notices at least 4 or 5 people (or more) texting on their phones while on the road every day. I'm scared for him. I didn't have to deal with stupidity like this when I was learning how to drive.

I only have a landline in my home and I'm still alive.

They think like they are immortal, nothing bad will come of it.
Many do the same thing about the treatment of our earth, ignoring all the warning signs.

Many didn't survive, like with measles.
Cell phones have saved many lives: lost hikers, heart attacks when not at home, being attacked on the street, on and on.

It blows my mind.
Especially once everyone had a cell phone in their hand to be able to talk to people.
Like here?

You got that right they don't care. Its disgusting. Its illegal here to text AND talk without a headset, but they don't enforce it.
I made a post last week someone almost hit us when they were talking on their cell and my husband had to swerve and we just missed the curb. And when we got our new car a few years ago someone hit us in a parking lot where we were sitting having ice cream. He was on the cellphone too. We had to get our new car repaired just after getting it.
Im SO fed up with cellphones everywhere its unreal. We went to the movies Sunday and 2 people had to open their phones during the movie. Whats SO important that people have to keep using cellphones everywhere? I just DONT get it and never will!
For the record, I have a prepaid cell I rarely use. I have no interest in being on a phone while Im out and about with my husband/family/friends. I am spending time with them, why should I be on a phone? IE RUDE!

Oh, no, don't get me started (again)! It (texting while driving, walking) is really out of control around here. Several posters here haven't believed me in the past; but, I'm telling you that I'm not even exaggerating. Unfortunately. (I'd rather be exaggerating.)

Kelly Ripa once mentioned that when she was young, her household had one phone in the center of a long hallway. And it was a big deal to get a very long extension cord, so she could bring that phone down the hall to briefly talk with a friend in private! I remember those days, and it seems that Kelly is 'way younger' that I am; yet her childhood experiences were very similar to mine!

What would the op have had the ""little twit"" do? Shake her hand back at you? I would have driven off as well.

Text/talk and cause an accident with damage - you pay in full above and beyond what your insurance covers. Loss of license for 1 year. Major increase in your ins. premium. Major fine.
Text/talk and cause bodily harm (non-fatal) - loss of license for a specified time, major fine, and full responsibility beyond what your insurance covers for medical expenses. Some jail time would be required. Major increase in your ins. premium when you do get your license back.
Text/talk and cause a death - permanent loss of license and minimum time in jail, at least 2 years.
I have absolutely no patience for people driving and yakking/texting. None. At. ALL.
