I use my knuckle at ATMs.
Otherwise...I think a little dirt is good for us!

I saw a guy put on rubber gloves to use the pump at the gas station.
I never even thought of all the people who handle those and they never get cleaned.

I know people who are the biggest germaphobes and are constantly dousing themselves in antibacterial soap. They are the sickliest people I know and come down with everything.
Right. They're not letting their immune systems build up a resistance toward anything that's out there, which ends up making them susceptible to anything and everything.

Although the guy that OP was talking about sounds sort of like an odd duck, it isn't just fecal matter that is a concern.
Actually, to someone with a very compromised immune system, Sunshine's list isn't that odd. Several of the things on that list have been recommended to me by medical advisors. I've also heard many of them recommended on health segments on TV.
You only have to be hospitalized a couple of times for something you "catch", to learn how many germs are spread by these things. I haven't been sick from any flu or virus since implementing these things when out in public, for several years now. Laugh if you want.

A good portion of that list was laugh worthy. Don't try to guilt for seeing the humor in it. We're all gonna die one day, no one gets out of this life alive.

I agree. It's not an odd list for someone on chemo either.

Yeah...I've come to the conclusion that just being alive spreads germs to more people and places than can be listed.
I'm lucky (or normal) I have an average immune system. Or maybe it is a highly evolved one, seeing as how I should have been hospitalized or dead by now by constantly touching everything and not sterilizing before/during/after each and every contact for all of my life.

There is literally fecal matter over everything. I saw a study a few years ago and every where they swabbed, handrails, faucets, menus, money, elevator buttons, counters, floors, phones, etc..., they found it on every single thing they swabbed.
My niece is OCD and medication literally saved her life. She was 15 when she started taking meds for it but OCD interfered with her life something terrible. She was on the brink. Medication and therapy have made her a new person and she went from not being able to leave the house because of her fear of germs to being a successful and busy sophomore who is very involved with many activities. If she was born a few decades earlier I really believe she might be a suicide statistic. I am so happy she was able to get the help and meds she needs.
I do know people with no type of mental illness regarding germs they just happen to be hypersensitive about them. They go overboard and are such clean freaks, it actually made them more of a target for illness because they have stunted their immune system because they don't give it a chance to work.
I just read a study that concluded people who clean with bleach were more likely to become ill with infections and more likely to get the flu, bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis and sinus infections.
I also know many people who are very vigilant with stuff like handrails, counters, menus etc.. but don't think anything of touch money which is the most filthy.
