I have only experienced these types of floors in hotels and personally I did not care for how they felt on my feet. I like a more smooth shower floor. They look beautiful though.

you need to be certain to use a surface that will not be slippery when wet and soapy. I think the smooth river rocks could get slippery.

Yes, I have a pebble shower floor in our master bathroom. However, I chose the flat kind; sort of like pebble slices, so they don't hurt our feet. We had a custom shower door made and the guy who made it admired the floor. He said that most pebble floors are uncomfortable but ours looked like it would feel great on the feet. And it does.

I do them all the time.......three great things about them other then aesthetics......1) it's a natural non slip surface which is awesome in a shower application......2) you get a foot massage as you take your shower which is good for your body........3) depending on what type of pebble and size used you have a natural exfoliate........all three are pluses.......aesthetically it bring a spa like feel to to bath.............................raven

Thank you raven & faeriemoon! I will check out the smoother style stones before completely abandoning my thoughts of installing the floor.
I'm hoping there might a chance to see a completed one prior to making my decision. Our contractor has a customer who had one installed 6 months ago and he says she "loves" it. He's offered to give her my number so we can connect and maybe she'll let me take a look and feel!
I had heard many times about how good these floors felt in terms of the massage effect. But I wasn't sure if the stones would be more slippery...and you certainly can't lay a non-skid mat down on them I guess, due to the uneven surface. Raven, is there a particular type of stone that tends to be less slippery?
Thanks for more food for thought!
