It was a sad day. It set the fuse for the atom bomb where over 140,000 more were to die.

What a terrible day in history.  When we visited, you could feel the sadness and loss.  Many of us were crying at the Memorial.

A terrible day in history for so many.

There was hundreds of thousands of women contributing to the war effort.

My dear mom would have been 98 years old today.

Mom contributed to the war effort, her names was Rosie, not a nick name but her legal name.

Rosie worked for the continuation of the of the war. Because of her training she worked 20 more years for Douglas Aircraft, Hillers Helicopter and Hughes Aircraft (Howard Hughes).

Here's a photo of Rosie.IMG_0816.jpeg

@Alsace Gal, that's fascinating. Your mom was the actual embodiment of Rosie the Riveter.

There was such a series of mishaps, signs ignored, and complacency that contributed to the huge losses. Such a sad day.

My dad was 15 when the attack took place in 1941.  He was stunned by it but had to wait until he was 18 to join the Navy.  He served 12 years between WWII and Korea.  He is now 97 and in very frail health with hospice, but his memory of those times are like it was last week.  His stories are amazing to us.  I was only concerned about high school friends and parties at 15.  The state of the world meant nothing to me beyond my own neighborhood.

Thank you for posting & remembering this dark day in our history. I think often of the brave men & women who have fought and died for our country on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day and in all wars.
