Paypal- have there been any changes lately?

I want to buy a few "Buy it Now" things on Ebay this morning. I use Paypal for my Ebay purchases and it's been 3-4 months since I last bought something.

I thought someone had posted here about changes to Paypal and that you had to give your social security number or something weird. Some sort of change other than it just being billed directly to your credit card. I have no intention of giving my SSN to anyone.

So I thought I'd check before I purchase. Does Paypal still work the same way it always has or have there been changes? Thanks.
