Re: Passive ?? Aggressive ??

People who are looking for a fight don't like passivity.

Mom tells daughter: "Clean your room."

Daughter says: "Okay."

Daughter leaves for the day . . . room not cleaned.

Next day: Room not cleaned

Next day: Room not cleaned

That is just plain old lyin'.

In the example I cite, the room not only never gets cleaned, it gets worse and worse. And the mother is very sick and cannot do it. The daughter promises things all the time and never does them. Often does the opposite. It's not a lie . . . a lie would be "I did it," and it wasn't done. Whatever . . . eye of the beholder, I guess.

I think there's always an element of deception in passive-aggressive activity. It's so much more open and honest to confront people or issues directly, in my opinion. Even if it's uncomfortable to do it.

I hate seeing that comment become one that people take as sarcasm. Coming from the south, I always used it sincerely. Now if I say it, I always feel I have to add some sort of disclaimer.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Perfect description! For example, a person doing things, exactly what they were told not to do, and saying they were just trying to help, continuously.

Re: Passive ?? Aggressive ??

They're too passive/cowardly to approach their problem with you directly.......so they find passive/indirect ways to express their anger and aggression that have little to do with what's really bothering them. Passive/aggressive people are rockstars when it comes to snide, sarcastic comments, putdowns, withholding affection, etc. They just won't honestly acknowledge or talk about what they're really upset about. In fact, they'll act mystified and sweetly deny that they're upset at all.........

That is a chronic liar.
