I hate seeing that comment become one that people take as sarcasm. Coming from the south, I always used it sincerely. Now if I say it, I always feel I have to add some sort of disclaimer.

In the example I cite, the room not only never gets cleaned, it gets worse and worse. And the mother is very sick and cannot do it. The daughter promises things all the time and never does them. Often does the opposite. It's not a lie . . . a lie would be "I did it," and it wasn't done. Whatever . . . eye of the beholder, I guess.
