I've had at least 1/2 dozen of them.
Recently, I had a 2nd one done on a tooth that already had a root canal.
(Decades ago)
This time, no pain killer.
When it had been done the 1st time, the nerve was taken care of.
I go to a guy, who just does root canals.
Besides after having 2 big toe nails removed, root canals are just a walk in the park for me!

I just got back from my root canal appointment, I survived it! The second appointment wasn't nearly as long as the first,I also feel I was much calmer for it (no drugs taken)! I'm just waiting for the Novocaine to wear off so I can have something to eat.

I just finished up with my bridge replacements. Last one on Monday, taking out the temp and putting in the permanent. I took no novocaine, the whole process took 15 minutes. At my ancient age, I'm pretty sure that was the last time. I've had bridges all of my adult life. Really bad genes.
I had two root canals during this time and both failed within a few years, turned black and had to be pulled. For what they charge, it was never worth it for me to have it done again.

There is a dentist in the next town from me that will either put you to sleep intravenously or give you a "special" drug that will keep you relaxed & awake. But, you will NOT remember the actual procedure that was done.

I'm so glad the second appointment went well. I was surprised at all the people who said you should ask for drugs to get you through it. While the initial work is not pleasant, it can be endured. I like the dam, but getting it in place is what I hated the most.

The root canal I had done 35 years ago on a bottom back tooth is still good, but the one I had done on a upper back tooth 2 years ago is not. That tooth has been a problem for me since the day I had it done. Even after the work was done, I complained of a dull ache and sensitivity at the gum line. The Endo that did it says it's the nerve in the tooth that is causing the problem and he's not going to do anything about it. I hate to lose another tooth, but when it goes bad it's gone.

Same for me, no pain, but it failed 12 years later and tooth was pulled. That was the term my dentist used, said the root canal has failed.
My dentist had the same thing happen with her own root canal tooth. I guess it's not uncommon for them to fail after a certain period of time. Both of us went to a root canal specialist.

Glad to hear it went well, @Jordan2. I have a piece of a drill in one of mine, from a RC. We look at it each time an x-ray is done. Still there.
