I love the sardine comment! Have to remember that one!

I have never been in this type of situation before.
I know in some cities it is illegal to put chairs, trash cans, something large in the road to block people from parking in that spot.
I guess when people get desperate they try anything to keep from walking several blocks to their home. to bad cities can't put up small parking areas on each corner of street parking only places.

A few months ago I was parked in the garage of a local mall. I was perfectly positioned in my parking space. When I got back to my car, there was a larger car parked within just a few inches from my driver's side. Seriously... just a few inches! Fortunately, I'm agile enough to climb over the passenger seat and console. Wish I'd left a note!

I saw those online plus many more. LOL!!! I used to have one I left on windshields. I cannot remember what it said. Something like thanks for parking so close I needed a can opener to get out of my car.
I don't have to worry about that now. Any time I go some place I park far away from other cars since people are so inconsiderate with dinging your car. I don't want them all over my car. I paid too much money for it. Besides I can use the exercise.

I park away from everyone at stores, and still someone decides to park so close by my door. Like the poster below, I had to get in through my passenger door. There were not cars arounds except that one. lol. I think they wanted the shade from the tree.

@ItsMEA similar thing happened to me. I got a new (to me) little red car and I made a habit of parking on the other end of the grocery store parking lot where NOBODY parked. I came out of the store and there was a junker parked inches from my driver's door. They were sending a message I believe: "Ha-ha ~ No one's safe no matter how far away you park". They didn't scratch my car thankfully. It was just a hee hee moment for them. I didn't laugh. ![]()

This happened to me when lived in upstate NY 20+ years ago.My kids & I had gone to a local store. It was winter time, it had snowed heavily a few days prior so there were over 6 foot high mounds of snow piled up in areas of the parking lot from when the lot was cleared.
I pulled into a parking space. There were 2 full spaces available & a half space (1/2 of the space was taken up by the mound of snow) I took one of full spaces, in between the 1/2 space & a full space, & the kids & I went into the store.
When we came back out to the car, some clown in a compact car had pulled into the 1/2 space & some dumb broad had pulled into the full space next to my car, not leaving enough room to even open my passenger side door.
We went back into the store, had the owner of the car paged so she'd come move her car. When she came out, she was grumbling & muttering under her breath. When she saw us waiting by my car, she asked me "how did you manage to get out of your car before & why can't you get back in the same way?"
I told her that when I pulled in, there was no one else parked in either space next to me so we were able to open the car doors to get in & out of the car. I couldn't understand what she said but she continued with her grumbling & muttering & moved her car. I told her to have a nice day & went on with my day.
