I went to Target a few days ago to buy some birthday cards along with some other things. The total seemed higher than I expected but I had some aspirins and vitamins and just thought they were more expensive than I thought. When I got home I looked at my receipt and the three greeting cards were $12.95 each!!!! I knew they were more expensive than most cards but that is ridiculous. I returned them to Target the next day and the woman behind the counter was shocked when she rang up the total. Just wanted to warn people to check the prices on those cards!{#emotions_dlg.scared}

Re: Papyrus greeting cards!!!

I purchase the Papyrus Greeting Cards. Yes, they are more costly than others. Everything has gone up in price. I view those cards as 'real' greeting cards as they are so lovely and nicely made.

Papyrus cards are always expensive. I always check the price first.

They're beautiful cards.

Re: Papyrus greeting cards!!!

I always check the price on cards before I purchase them. I refuse to pay over $3.00 - 4.00 for a card and have found nice (enough) ones for well under that limit.

I've never heard of Papyrus but then I'm not a fan of Target either so I'm rarely in there.

Re: Papyrus greeting cards!!!

Aren't the prices shown on the back of the cards like all the other cards? I make most of my greeting cards, but when I do have occasion to buy one, I always check the back of the card.

Re: Papyrus greeting cards!!!

It was definitely my fault. I knew they were expensive (used to be $6.95) but I wanted really nice cards so I didn't check the back for the price. I just think $12.95 is a ridiculous amount to charge for a greeting card!

Re: Papyrus greeting cards!!!

My local high end grocery store, like a WHOLE FOODS sells them. I'm surprise Target sells them. They are very nice, and for special people to get. Like someone you would not necessarily give a gift too, but a special card.

$12.95 is a lot for a card, even a Papyrus card.

Re: Papyrus greeting cards!!!

Hallmark cards have really gone up in price too. $6 to $8 for one card. And the wording is not as nice as it used to be.
