@scatcat wrote:Why would self checkouts be faster? Cashiers are quick, know how to handle a problem and have a side kick to load up all the scanned stuff and move you OUT!
They are efficient. The 75 year old at the self scan or the mom with 3 kids hanging off her - not so much
At Sam's it is not necessary to unload your purchases onto the conveyor belt. Simply pick up the gun and scan from your cart. I find this to be timesaving. There is always an employee standing at the ready to help customers with any problems they might encounter.
I don't go to Sam's often so I have not tried the Scan and Go app but I can see where this would definitely save even more time.

The holidays seem to bring out the worst in some people. It has always been a busy time ,with crowds, and long lines
What has become a rather recent event, is the melees that occur, when stores offer a sales event. People have been trampled, in the rush to get there first ,and some have died
I am glad I shop online, and I stock up as much as possible at the grocery store . Yesterday ,I got a standing rib roast ,for Christmas Dinner, just trying to think ahead

OP, I just don't see the need to rush home to post about someone in a shopping line. Take a deep breath and enjoy the holidays!

Drove by one in the next town mid-day yesterday and the parking lot was spilling over into the streets. So glad I was not trying to go.
i do need exactly one thing today, so am plotting to arrive as the grocery opens. Got two hours to go 👍

@Snoopp wrote:My local grocery looks like everyone is in a panic. People are racing through the aisles and this is early am. Much too crowded for my taste.
That is so weird. Here, the stores are crowded and busy, but no one races through the aisles, and there's no drama. Customers and staff remain calm, and everyone manages to get what they need without making a big deal about it. Everyone seems to accept the fact that shopping will take a little longer because more people are shopping. I'm so glad I don't have to watch out for getting knocked down by people who ate racing. It could be fun to watch the racers from a distance, tbough!

If yu're going to buy it at Costco, you'd better do it today, although I can only imagine what a madhouse it will be.

@Laura14 wrote:It's not just at Costco. I had my sister crying because I was causing a scene at every check out line I stood in yesterday. By the time we got to At Home, I wanted to call a meeting in the checkout line and show everyone how it's done again.
i like your rules but I don't like it that you made a scene and made your sister cry. Did you apologize to her and/or do anything to make her feel better?

What kind of turkey are people waiting in line for at Costco?
Thank you in advance.
