Hey Peach, Could you ask your DH about the varion 2300 IX, Radiation machine? It's about 5 years old. We R trying to get the treatments done here were we live so we don't have to do the long drive on the weekends to come home. & as much as we love our daughter I think it would be to much stress on us for all that time. So we just have to find out if I can keep my team of DR>

in Palm Beach & so far they are all saying yes. I am just waiting to hear from my oncol.in JUpiter. Thanks again for all your help. Deb

Oh Deb, he said to tell you, "That is a wonderful machine." He is really really really really familiar with Varian, if you get my drift.. I agree it would be smart to stay close to home for your treatments, I mean it's great equipment & I can speak personally for them..

Oh Peach, Thanks so much, I am so happy I met U on this board you have given me So much info. I think we are going to have it done here where we live & when I see my DRS.the 30th, I know they will agree.I have been on the phone all day & there was a cancer center that said they would fly us out there put us up in a 4 star hotel & take great care or us... They asked what insurance we had & told them & said it was the best, So we called the cancer center here & asked about there equ. & how old was it . Thats why I new U would know.I do not care if they pay us to go to a hotel I want to be close to home or in my home.I guess I am just thinking to much about it all & kinda freaking out!!!. I should get the results of the mammo.& ultra sound tomm ,I hope. Thanks again for everything. X0 , Deb

Hi Deb, wherever you decide to go, whatever you do, I am sure you'll make the best decision possible for yourself. No you aren't thinking too much about it, this is real and you can feel anyway your little heart desires- it's staying positive, smiling and kicking this bad boy in his booty!!!! and we'll our keep our prayers going out for you and your family. Shoot, look at everyone on this thread that's been there and done that- silly phrase for something serious but it's the truth.. I mean how it affects people in different ways in some strange way helps one another.

Anxious to hear your results from your mammogram and sonogram (I am a retired radiology tech and I specialized in mammography).

Hi Peaches, Sorry I have not gotten back to you. For 3 days I was so sick , I think it was because I have not been sleeping. My daughter came up for the weekend & after I had some sleep felt so much better & had a great time with her. Well one of her friends she grew up with called & new she was here & she works for the oncol. that I want to have the rad. with. & went online & the DR. has 5 * ratings. She said that people that have gone to Moffitt leave & come to the cancer center I want to go to,I go to jupiter Friday & will get the results to my tests & tell them I want to stay here. I can not thank you enough for all your info. Can you ask your DH if he had pain in his neck & just felt not good. And I really thank everyone who gave me hope & wrote on my post. Take Care.Deb

deb, Hello! I am so glad you're feeling better- sleep deprivation is just awful, I know I have my nights of tossing and can't sleep. Happy to hear your daughter came for a visit, I know you enjoyed that so very much. Things here haven't been too bad, we ran out earlier to get a few things at the Wally & in for the day.

Now my husband said to tell you he refused to be affected by any of the pain he felt when his throat got so terribly, terribly sore- he didn't take anything for pain either- that was when he was still in field service & his boss assigned him phones for the entire duration of his therapy. Plus we continued to go to Knoxville for Tennessee football and managed a couple weekend runs down to Disneyworld- we weren't going to let anything hinder us from doing the things we loved & kept to our plans. Not one day did he miss work either. I'll mention it again that it was like in the beginning of the 3rd week he started feeling throat soreness and it gradually increased.. When he spoke it was very soft & if I saw him wanting to yell at a game I quickly shushed him. Hey had to do what I had to do... Now mind you there were plenty of days he just didn't feel good and I left him be.. but that's just apart of being a human.

Hey U!! So happy to hear from you. We are here in Jupiter & going to the DR. tomm. Can't wait to hear what they have to say. Went to the beach & had a nice dinner. So scared about tomm. That is when it will all change. I am trying to be positive now!!! My DH booked 2 nights on the beach at Singer Island for Sun & Mon. I can not wait. I will let U know everything.Thanks for asking DH about the pain because it is really getting bad at night now. I do take the pain pills at night but it is different now. Can not wait to see the DRs. Tomm. I have so many ??? . I will keep U posted & thanks for being there & everyone else that has posted to me. Take Care, Deb

Hi Deb! I sure will be thinking about you today- I know how anxious you are and exactly how you're feeling. Oh yes be positive!! People can be negative and positive at the same time-I know!!! How nice your hubby booked those 2 nights on the beach- you both will have such a nice time- try, try to relax- know it's easier said than done but you'll feel what's best for you.

Oh the pain, if you were speaking prior to his radiation therapy, he didn't complain or say anything.. Let's see, they did aspiration of the lump which was negative, ENT said let's get that bad boy out and found the one bad lymp node- after diagnosis did panendoscopy- to be honest he may have complained more about other things but not any actual pain. He had his good days and bad days but heck that was to be expected. He'd snap at me, I'd cry but it all worked out. We look back now and think, "Did all of that really happen?"

Hang in there today!! I won't be home tomorrow and most of Sunday so if you don't hear back right away, you will.. LOL You take care too & hugs!!!!

O Peach, If it was not for you I DON'T KNOW IF i WOULD GET THREW THIS. Well the good news is the ultra sound & Mamo all neg.Thank god. Well the bad I thing They want me to start with Chemo!!! & I am freaking out!!!! With radiation ,But I am in shock I said to myself I would never do Chemo & look at me now.I will be getting it done where I live, But my oncog.In Jupiter gave me the formual that he wants them to start me out with & he said with this kind they start at 100. mine will be 40. & I will not lose my hair Heck thats the only thing I love about me!!! LOL. So I am to start Wed.But he said I will be sick as U know what That I do not need. I gage just taking a pill. So I guess I better have a great time on the beach for 2 days!!!!! Which I know I will. Thank god we have never had a bad word to each other at all but we never did. I Think we are still in shock!!!Take Care My Friend, Deb

Hi Deb, how wonderful your ultrasound & mammogram were negative! I sure agree thank God.

Wow they aren't letting grass or in your case sand (beach) grow under your feet what with your chemo starting so soon.. and you won't lose your hair is a plus huh? They'll probably be able to give you something for the extreme nausea- oh if you take a pill by mouth you'll be glad to gag a little to calm the nausea down. At least you'll be home in your own comfortable surroundings- one step at a time!!! Have the best time ever at the beach!!! Still in shock? Girl I hear you on that one. I think you're going to do just fine, Deb!!!! You've got tons of support in your family & all of us here....
