I'm a root and ant pronouncer, but what about coupon? I was brought up in downstate NY and always pronounced the word as coopon. My husband, on the other hand, grew up in upstate NY and says "cue-pon."

I say Ant for Aunt.
Route (rhymes with Out) for "let's walk a different route."
Root as is "I root for this team!"
I say "Cue-pon". "Coo-pon" annoys me ...
Wash not "Warsh."
Bear as in bare.
Bar as in "let's get a beer at the bar."

I have a friend who calls Cool Whip "whoop cream" and they're from here so not sure where they got that!

The correct pronunciation is koo-pon. A lot of people pronounce it wrong I've noticed.

Raised in Ca and always said rowt for route and root when pertaining to what comes out of the ground.  Ant for aunt.  Neither and Either with long e unless I want to sound like a pompous a**,  would never pronounce that with a long i.

I know someone who says "bayg" instead of "bag"...It sounds like there's something wrong with her.

How about eggs?  I pronounce it exactly as it is spelled. (Short "e" as in "let".)  But some people say "aygs."  Kind of bugs me.

The "melk" think bugs me too; it's "milk"; short "i", not short "e".

@Daisy Sunflower I kind of do the same thing.  Bayg, flayg, drayg... It's just the way it comes out; I'm not purposely trying to say it funny Smiley Happy

Sometimes I hear people say:  "Think you very much."  Bugs me!
