That sounds like the foo-foo mall I used to live near, @Marsha2003. I am also at a point where I don't buy as much as I used to.

I shop at the mall. I feel shopping locally is important. I also shop online.

Rarely. Covid started it. Then knees, age and Amazon. Plus, I think at my age I just don't have the desire for "things/stuff" like I used to. Walking thru the mall and looking in all the stores just doesn't do it for me anymore.

I agree about Belk. Had a horrid experience with Belk a few weeks ago...took it all the way to the top corporate executive, and all I got was $8 and an email saying my "issue" was now closed. I will never shop there again, in-store or online.

@spiderw ..You raise a good point. I definitely shop at local businesses. (However, I don't consider big chains like Home Depot or Target as local stores.)
Also, it depends on what I'm shopping for. If I can find what I want at a local store that's great, but I have no problem going to Amazon.

ITA, but the people employed in those stores live in your community.

If those stores pulled up stakes, your neighbors have lost their jobs.

We have a a couple "used to be good" malls near us and we would go regularly. These days? The stores left in them are not of interest to us and the reset are all restaurants. So, our buying has definitely shifted to on line and we are none the happier about it.

If we need to go to Penny's it's in the mall. Needed new window coverings for new size windows, last visit. Like my bedding from there, although good old Amzn, is usually where we shop. At this age, too convenient. Thank goodness.

We have many stand-alone stores within 20 min of where I live. JCP, Kohls, Target, Marshall’s, TJMaxx. Nordstrom Rack. I can’t stand going to the mall. It’s way too big and the roads and parking near it are a confusing maze. I have no patience for it anymore.
